These are good value guitars, if you're on a budget, like me. I really like the neck. I swapped the controls, bridge and pickups from a player plus I have into the Musi. I had installed Seymour Duncan vintage style pickups into the Player plus, because it has an alder body and the Musi guitar has a mahogany body. I may get some different pickups for the Musi down the road, but for now they both sound fine. The Musi is a great guitar for modding. Now, I am waiting for a 15 watt Monoprice tube amp to arrive (237.00USD) to see how that sounds. Your original youtube vids on this guitar convinced me it was worth a shot. Thanks.

Hey Sean, thanks so much for commenting and for watching! Yeah these guitars are great right out of the box with minimal tweaking, so with mods like yours, your bringing it to yet another level! Those Mono price amps are great I here! That's ra good price too. I looked into getting one here but in Canada they are around $500... too much for a Monoprice in my opinion. Let me know how you like the amp😀 Cheers! J

5:15 - I’d say it probably IS shielding paint. Since a large amount of the paint has already come off, it makes total sense that you’re only seeing electrical continuity where the graphite powder is still continuous. My guess is that they finished the pickup cavities first, and did not bother to sand the clear coat down in any way, so the shielding paint is simply not adhering to the cavities like it should.

Nice video, J! If I were you (I'd play guitar a lot better, then, but that's neither here nor there), I'd let Musi know about the cavity shielding problem so they can adjust and improve. I mean, they are sending you some tuners, eh? Great stuff!

Hey CB&RC! Thanks for watching and commenting... yes I did let them know back when I discovered it on my 1st Musi Classic. They did say they would look into it. However my guess is they won't change the process of their current production line untill they change the model. Then they'll tweak the production stages and unfortunately raise prices🤔

Thanks for the video J-Man! Just purchased one of these same model and color! Seems like a lot of guitar for $300.00 US! I may change the pickups in the future as I have a set of the Fender 64’s laying about. But otherwise seems like most everything on this guitar is pretty good quality. I’m most pleasantly surprised at how good this off brand Telecaster actually is! Thanks again for the informative video.

16:27 - The stock tuners on both of my IYV guitars had similarly shocking amounts of slop in the gears and shafts like this, too. That’s why I replaced mine with Jin-Ho locking tuners. The J-H tuners are not very consistent-I found that some of them had some slop, while others were tight. I ended up ordering two sets and hand selecting the best ones. I’m thinking next time I might try some Guykers instead, just to see how they compare. As I say, no sense in upgrading a cheap guitar with hardware that ends up costing more than the entire guitar is worth.
@j-man9457
@j-man9457 Жыл бұрын
Yeah for sure I hear you. I've been lucky with the musiclily stuff. Their bridges are second to none as far as budget prices go, and their tuners nice and smooth more often than not. I have a set of staggered Fender locking tuners on my hybrid strat 130$ a set, and even those are not perfect, but they are over priced! Lol

@@j-man9457 When Fender does get things right, it is truly magical… But their quality does seem to have been slipping in recent years, and I absolutely agree that their stuff is often overpriced for what it is. That said, Fender stuff will probably ALWAYS have a better resale value than an IYV, Firefly, Musi, Grote, or Asmuse/Ammoon/etc.

@@j-man9457 did that a few weeks ago to a HB TE52 I was messing with. I'm a lefty...bought a righty Tele bridge plate. Had to chisel out some wood to make the fit..first time...easy. I THINK the low E is snappier and the high E less ear piercing....as they say, mileage may vary. Gonna drop some Bootstrap Palo Duros once they arrive. HB...another very decent Tele of the Asian persuasion. Oh, just found your channel...love your playing...at 62 and playing since 9...it's inspired me to attempt to 'countrify' my style abit....to learn some chicken-pickin, master hybrid picking, improve on Travis picking (I prefer a thumb pick, recent discovery)...Kudos.

@@lazvt8469 that sounds cool man! Maybe I will have to give that a shot. With just a humbucker route at the bridge you could change the orientation of a tele pickup easily with the correct bridge plate. And yeah chicken pickin is awesome although I suck at it hahaha Take it up, you'll enjoy it!😉

I just got mine in last week really amazing guitar. However, I’m curious where did you install your string tree? Both on the E and B? Did you do the G string too? I experiencing some open string buzz at the headstock and very minor tuning issues. Did you drill into the head stock? How did that go?
@j-man9457
@j-man9457 Жыл бұрын
Hey Metal Writes! I just installed 1 string tree between the B and E strings. Some people install one between the D & G strings as well but I don't need one on my guitar. There is enough break angle on those strings... Yes just a small pilot hole in the head stock between the B and E strings. As far as placement it's not super important. I just loosen may B&G strings a little, I set the string tree over them then push down on the string tree sliding it forward or back until I get a proper break angle at the nut. Then I just take a pointy pencil and insert the tip in the string tree screw hole to mark the spot for my pilot hole. Easy 😁
