Indeed it was: the 43rd Monmouthshire Regiment comprised most of the initial assault on the main Māori redoubt at the Battle of Gate Pā on the 29th April 1864. It did not go well for them: for they had in fact walked straight into an ambush, as Ngāi Te Rangi fighters emerged from covered trenches and hidden chambers to unleash devastating shotgun fire upon them, sending the survivors into a panicked rout. It was a brilliant tactical victory.

@@ifandafydd7432 I've had German and Italian people tell me that it's easy to pronounce words in their languages, because you just pronounce each letter the way it sounds, i.e. phonetically. BUT, you have to know how to pronounce each letter as the native speakers do. E.G. Auf Wiedersehen. If you're an English speaker you'd say Auf-wieder-sehen. A German says Au-veder-sehn. You don't pronounce the 'f' and the 'w' becomes a 'v'. Buongiorno to an English speaker is Buon-giorno, to an Italian it is Bongorno. Phonetics varies from language to language, from region to region and dialect to dialect. :)
