Whoever designed this was like "Okay so... What about the shotgun from Halo but backwards? But what about grips?" And someone popped up and went "I got it!", ran out of the room and duct taped two M&P9 frames to a prototype and ran back in, blowing everyone's minds. And honestly I love it lol

Im a but worried about that trigger guard action release. Its on the lowest most feared part and needs to open and choose every shot. Can something add little as grass get in and jam it up

If this turns out to be reliable then this should solve the bullpup shotgun which we all know has been attempted by other companies with questionable results. Can't wait for some reports from people running these through training classes. S&W is the most reputable manufacturer that has done this so far and chances are good that this thing actually performs reliably.

I tried this at the gun store along with KSG and IWI TS-12. Among all 3, this M&P12 has the least ergonomic especially if you have smaller body or shorter hand. TS-12 is the most ergonomic despite of the bulky size. It feels solid and well balanced. KSG is shorter but the most compact feeling when you hold it, feels like easy to carry around for survival emergency. M&P 12 has the longest throw for the pump. Your left hand feels like way too far ahead. I can imagine pumping left hand will fatigue quickly if I have to hold it in shooting ready position for a long period. It's just my personal opinion. I am not a big guy so comfort & ergonomic is important in handling any weapon if I want to increase my survival chance.

I hope you guys have a really big bottle of LocTite at the factory with all those screws! On a serious note. This looks pretty interesting. I would prefer M2.0 semi-auto version chambered in 3” magnum. Find a way to reduce the amount of hardware on it too. Just my honest feedback.

Pump is more reliable, there are semi-auto bullpup shotguns available, but they cost substantial more, and most need a heavy load to cycle properly. These should be able to eat any ammo.

@@jasonmcpherson399 Its an engineering question. even a 100 % reliable semi auto is a stone age primitive mechanism compared to an automatic transmission , not to mention a jet engine with 20K parts. If engineers of a gun manufacturer can not design and manufacture an absolutely reliable semi auto , they should not be in this business.

I bought this, because I love S&W, but this will never be a shotgun I use for anything other than handing to a friend on range day. I own a DP-12 Pro, which only weighs 3oz more than the M&P 12, and after 17 THOUSAND rounds, I still have not had to take it apart to clean anything more than the barrels. Not only can it hold 15% more ammo (at least when comparing mini shells), but it reloads nearly 3 times faster. Don't forget the spring assisted recoil reduction, which brings Aguila Mini Slugs down to a level you could fire from your forehead if you chose to, let alone your shoulder. The M&P kicks at least as bad as the Kel Tec, which should be a factor to anyone planning on having to shoot this gun any other time than emergencies. The reload mech is a big deal to me here. I can fire 30 mini's out of my M4 faster than I can out of this shotgun, even though it holds nearly 300% more ammo. Were you ever in a situation where you had to reload and your life depended on it, this would not be the gun you'd want to be holding. The Kel Tec again, is in that same spot. At least with something like a UTAS you've got the option of chucking a shell right into the barrel. For the money, it's a decent competitor to Kel Tec, but as a tactical "bullpump" marketed for home defense, I'd choose almost anything over the M&P 12. If it were me, and I had $1200 and not a penny more to spend on home defense, I'd go buy a UTAS 15. Personally, I don't think anything is going to ever top what Standard Manufacturing did with the DP-12 Pro model. It's just got everything you'd want in a pump shotgun now that they shaved the weight off in all the right places.

Well for $1,000.00 shot gun this gun has no chance of being more effective then a semi auto mag fed shotgun, so at that $1,000.00 price it is just not worth the money when for less then $800 you can get a magazine fed semi auto that would be way way more effective... this gun should have came out 6 years ago to pay more then $650 for any pump action shotgun you are paying way to much for what you are buying... A Semi auto shotgun is way more effective and more efficient then any pump action...
