I purchased on SW MP 15 22 a few months back. And I'm having constant feeding issues. I can get a couple rounds or so out before it jams or doesn't feed. Only one time was I able to go through a magazine without issues. My magazine does the same thing here. Mine are black. One is an extra I bought, but I still have the same issues

I have just recently experienced this failure myself. It happened with a black mag, however, I also have a tan mag wearing out as well. It started with the stovepipe deal and wound up just dumping all rounds on the ground and my mag pouch too. Since the mag had already seemed to be junk, I thought I would see if I could fix it. I heated the feed lips with a heat gun and squoze(?) them closer together. So far it seems to have worked. Mags are hard to find at the time of this report.

Hey thanks....that's worth a try.... lol 😂 I took one and added some JBweld to the feed lips and then sanded it down... As soon as I can feed the mad 22 eater again we shall see.... right now extra mags are not an issue because of the ammo crunch.....

Thanks for this port! All of mine have done the same thing too! I saw another video where they suggested (and I'm sure all of y'all already know this) not to keep any of them loaded for any period of time. Due to the mag being full, it forces the plastic to expand and messes the spring somehow. I'm interested in your suggestion to heat and then squeeze them together! I may try this, thank you for the suggestion!

If you look closely at the top of the Magazines you will see that the flat dark earth Magazine is worn out , I recently found out that my factory black magazines have worn in the same way causing the bullet to slam into the feed ramp and not loading correctly ,and doing severe damage to the bullet . Again if you watch the video and look closer at the area in the middle portion where the bullet sits you will notice that the material is worn away causing the bullet to hit the feed ramp incorrectly and therefore not feed properly . hope this helps .

My problem is the spring not coming up fast enough as the gun is being fired causing the bolt to close empty on occasion or causing the bullets to bunch up causing a failure to feed

@@Gunsandfun1961 I ordered a new one today I also went shoot the old one today and it runs 90% of the time if I constantly shoot it. I think it may be from leaving the mag fully loaded at all times since it seems they have a pretty crappy spring in the mag

@@Gunsandfun1961 I ran 450 rounds thru the black mag that came with it when I purchased it new early 2022. I had two FDE mags with 325 rounds thru each. I hadn't had any issue at that point with the lip wearing like yours and others I've seen on YT. The mags are only $24.99 but I would like to see them last longer than that. I did have failure with all three with the internal glued or heat welded construction coming apart. I think it is a problem with the batches they have been selling for the last year. You will notice it when it happens, with a full mag the first 7-10 rounds fire and feed like they should then the bolt locks back or it simply cycles with no round chambered because the rounds didn't move up due to the follower being in a bind. If I can describe it well enough, when this happens, remove your mag and you will see the rounds are loose and the the follower will most likely not be at the top. With your thumb and finger on the mag just like you would when loading but move your hand down to the half way point (top to bottom), squeeze the mag together where the open slot is and the follower will move up. If it's not fully separated you might hear a snap sound internally as you have just finished breaking it. This will cause the follower to really drag. When I contacted S&W and got an RMA to return the three mags, two of them, while empty, I could slide the follower all the way down and gently let it slide back up and it would stop at the half way point, even under the spring tension. You can visually inspect the mag and see that the channel that the button/axle thing that goes thru the follower it dragging heavily on those edges of the open slot, indicating that the mag has swelled in that area. You can force it past that center spot and it will slide freely. I received my three replacement mags two weeks ago and I put 100 rounds through one of them and 75 thru the other two before they did the exact same thing. I have emailed S&W again and told them I don't want them replaced until they've acknowledged there is a problem and corrected the problem. When the mag fails this way, you basically end up with a 10-12 round mag because it will feed the top portion without binding. Another test you can do is remove the follower spring and see if the follower falls completely and smoothly with gravity by just tipping the mag over. If it tries to hang or drag thru the half way point, your mag is on it's way out. I have not been able to find anything on YT regarding this issue and there is no way the gun or how I run it could be contributing to this issue, so I though I would mention it here in hopes that someone else has had this issue and maybe didn't know exactly what it was that was causing it. @@matth3wluke I have not noticed any difference between the black and fde mags. I'm on my third set of three mags(replaced under warranty). I just haven't had time to get on my range enough to put some serious rounds through them. I have 25 rounds each thru this third set and have left them loaded since I received them about 4 weeks ago. Sometimes they will separate while just sitting fully loaded. So far, no issues.

Bobby I just purchased 3 black mags. These jam and so does the black mag that came with my rifle... Here's the problem that I found. When I load the mag, the bullet lies flat in the top of the mag and doesn't raise up on the front end to allow to eject from the mag (it hits the front of the mag).Then same thing in the rifle. When I manually clear the round, the next round is lying flat in the mag and when pushed forward, it can't eject from the mag because it's hitting the front of the mag. Any suggestions???? I'm so tired of this poor quality, cheap junk.

The M&P 15-22 magazines are a weak link in this platform. FDE color or black magazines, they will all wear out eventually. The 15-22 magazines need metal feed lips like on the Ruger 1022 magazines. I have one 15-22 magazine where the feed lips have 2 grooves worn in them by the rim on the shell casing. It is so worn that when I load the magazine, the spring tension in the mag pushes the bullets right back out.

I lost a black 25rd one on our property. We have a lot of wood land. A year kater..later I find it. Ir was in our damn pasture all all along, just imprinted in the ground from the mower. Spring still seems strong. Just jeeps catching and all. Spilling rounds etc. I was lucky enough to get a 35rd pinker tactical before they got shut down. It's a great mag, although I'm looking forward to getting the 25's again. For a carbine sized rifle, the 35 can just be a bit bulky. Luckily I see there's plenty of mags available online now. thank GOD. For a year I swear every site was sold out and were impossible to find. Unless you wanted to buy one from S&w and pay 30 bucks for shipping...NOT KIDDING. Never a fan of the open feed design but before my dumbass lost mine, it ran great and although I hunt and get nice and dirty, I never had reliability issues. Anyways, hoping I can glean some tips and salvage the aforementioned mag.

they are molded parts. The mix of the Polymer might have been off so the material is not as hard.

My black magazines do the same thing after extended use. The plastic appears to be softer than the brass of the cartridge. After about 3-5000 rounds the feed lips are toast and magazine needs to be replaced. A metal lining in the lip area would greatly increase the life of the magazine.

I have the following problem, the magazine does not lock me, it looks like a game, sometimes while I shoot the magazine is lowered and it does not finish feeding the cartridge, and annoying because I do IDPA, did you have the same problem?
