Excellent, thanks to this video I have been able to revive such a crossing, left abandoned in a box for 50 years. A bit of work and adjustment was needed of course. Amazing tutorials for the M Track lovers.

I have had one of these sitting on the shelf for 40 years. I've never hooked it up I'm going to do it this weekend. Thanks for the video.

Never realized this existed, great explanation! Marklin thinks of everything with the extension track to make it more realistic . Many thanks 😁😁

Bought one of these M Track crossings a few months ago complete with the additional Plastic track, infill and control tracks for 2 track operation. Ive just received 4x 5115 extension tracks in the post this morning. By my reckoning it should be possible to protect the crossing with signals by connecting the Lighting circuit power supply through the isolation switches built in to the signals.

Sure thing, but I am a bit puzzled as to why you would do this? It sounds like the crossing would be used to control trains in this scenario, but I might be wrong :)

@@The3rdRail That's not my intention my intention is to merely protect the Crossing using signals. Im assuming of course that German signalling practice is to protect crossings using signals as we used to here in the UK Distant/Vorsignal Home signal/Hauptsignal crossing. Basically if the Home signal wasn't clear then the crossing wouldn't operate. ( Im an ex BR Intercity Passenger Train Guard)

@@schwarzalben88 One learns something new every day :) A little video about this if you set this up would be very interesting.

@@The3rdRail That might take me a while, my layouts not useable at the moment. Im also interested in interlocking Haupt and Gleisspur signals so you cant clear the hauptsignal without clearing the Gleisspur signal first ( You have to isolate the lighting circuit in the Hauptsignal first so basically the signal lights stay illuminated) but the electromagnet that switches the Hauptsignal is isolated until the Gleisspur signal is cleared.

@schwarzalben88 Simple job for a relay (ie 7045) at worse or wiring in parallel by the looks of it. The lights are isolated out of the box and independent from the relay inside a Märklin signal, so all that is needed is to synchronise the operation of the relay (blue wires - going to ground). Good fun.
