"Apply only a thin layer of grease." *applies huge gobs :D . One must realize that this is likely exaggerated on purpose to show the location of application. A thin coat, enough to make the surface shiny, is adequate

One question... Can we fire a weapon after being applied with the greace? We usually oil the gun as a lubricant. And gun fires well after being oiled.
@codymoncrief8478 Жыл бұрын
@@Musafir091 it depends entirely on the design of the gun. Different designs have different required lubricants, so it is best to research the original instructions from the manufacturer.

@@Musafir091 M1 Garand is a grease gun. Grease where he says to grease, except CMP says never grease the trigger parts where he does. Not sure why he says to do this. Oil where he says to oil. Don't just use oil, use both for this particular firearm.

Good ole Lubriplate, this stuff has been around for 50 years......or more. It's used by the drum for lubrication in industrial applications such as high speed bearings, etc., even jet engines. It's Lithium based and won't melt in a gun which runs cold by comparison to other equipment. The only problem I saw in this video is it was applied way too liberally. As for oil, I use a "micro" molecule oil such as Z-Max which actually penetrates into the grain of the metal that literally forms an imbedded "oil shield" that doesn't wear off, collect dust and really cuts the friction. Oh and by the way......try using an air compressor once in a while to remove particulates instead of just washing them around with cleaner.

Do not, do not, do not grease the trigger hooks or sear. These need to be perfectly dry in order to prevent accidental discharge. The hooks prevent the hammer release until the trigger is pulled; grease these and you risk the hammer slipping off the hooks. Again, do not grease the hooks or sear!
@GenasysMech7 жыл бұрын
If you're depending on friction for proper trigger/sear latch operation.........you've got worn parts.

@brownells8 жыл бұрын
M1 Garands require both grease and oil. Never oil only. If it slides - Grease it. If it rotates - Oil it. Usually is it best to use oil only on revolvers but you will always need to check the owner’s manual to see what the manufacturer suggests.

@WhattAreYouSaying10 ай бұрын
That depends on different factors. I lubricate again when the action starts to get sticky. If it's hard to open or close, then it needs more oil. I recommend wiping off the old oil before applying new oil.
