Watch next: the one gadget that saved my shoot while travelling! kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJS9mYSHeduEmZY UPDATE: It’s been brought to my attention that 1h to transfer 500gb of footage is NOT fast. On my PC it would take at least double so I was honestly impressed. But as it turns out I’ve been living a lie because I thought I bought a LaCie SSD (considering the $$$ I paid) but it looks like it’s a regular external hard drive 😂 OH WELL. Live and learn. This isn’t a data transfer speed test anyway. And this means that the MacBook is probably a billion times faster than it is with my current HD. We shall find out when I buy a real SSD LOL. I hope you enjoy the rest ✌🏻

Hey Lila, great video. I am still contemplating if it will be a 14inch or 16inch. it is even harder to choose now than before, because the only tradeoff with the new models is the screen size and maybe some battery life. As for an external drive, I bought the Raidsonic Icy Box IB-1825M-C31 (which is very Mac-like, but only fits in color if you opted for the silver MacBook) and put a 2TB Samsung 970EVO Plus inside. It is the best version for me. USB 3.2 can transfer up to 10GBit/s in that case, which is up to 1,25GB. So your 500GB would take half a second. If you need even faster speed there is also USB 3.2 2x2, which has up to 20 GBit/s. But that is way more pricey I like your video setup by the way. Planning on a Sony A7IV to replace my 6400. But these days I am renting the A7SIII most of the time and use the 6400 just as a B cam and for Zoom Meetings

@@edimarjunior572 Different strokes I suppose. I can't function without that larger screen. My wife has a 14" HP Spectre 360 and while the small size is nice when traveling, the screen size is an issue for me and my workflow when traveling (which is numerous times a week) and when I only get 1 screen to work on, every little bit helps. I've tried using hers a couple times (when she was trying out my old macbook to see if her workflow could exist in MacOS) and I resorted to just swapping back and fourth between desktop spaces instead of just having everything I need on one screen. I know 14 vs 16" doesn't sound like a lot but it turned out to be a much bigger deal than I expected and since all I've known is the larger macbook form factor, it feels exactly the same but with a bit more screen... and a HELL of a lot faster/quieter.

You're unlikely to charge it from the car. What determines the charging ability is the adapter and power source, not the cable. Unless your car charging port is capable of outputting 140W or higher, you wont be able to fast charge. The adapter you use must also be capable of that output, and support whatever protocol apple is using to enable that fast charging.

Great video. Yes, you can charge a MacBook Pro 16" from any USB-C power source. I sometimes use the USB-C plug I have for my iPhone to charge my MacBook Pro rather than lugging the massive plug/power adaptor with me. It charges more slowly with lower power going in, but it does the job absolutely fine, and if you want to travel light, then using the folding iPhone plug is a viable option, so long as you are not looking to fast charge. Leave it plugged in for a few hours while you are asleep, and you will wake up to a fully charged laptop. On the size front, I also have an Air M1, which I bought with the idea that it would be my out-and-about laptop, but I never use it. Once you are used to the 16", anything else feels like a poor compromise imho. If I am travelling and space is so tight I can't get my laptop out, I use my phone to catch up on emails or whatever or take the opportunity to take a break from screens to read a book.

Ok, so both 14" and 16" have HDMI ports and airdrop. Saying that 16" has these options might be giving the impression that only 16" has these options and not the 14" ones.

Maybe Apple should make a genuinely "pro" version of the 14" inch which is just a little thicker than the current one. That would allow a bigger battery, better thermals and an SD card reader. Then it would have the portability of the smaller machine with the extra features of the 16.
@srirachahero46792 жыл бұрын
Can the 16" screen be opened to 90 degrees on an economy tray table? The video seemed to show you had it open at 90 degrees but I might be wrong.
@lilafromyoutube2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it depends on the plane. I was on another plane recently that was a bit tighter so I couldn’t. But sometimes I can 😂

@@lilafromyoutube probably just the pro, it’s likely enough for what I do. My poor 2015 MBP is struggling lol. I was going to get the M1 Mac Mini (to replace my 2012 MM) but then these new MBP’s came out and now I have to have one. 🤪
@lilafromyoutube3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha the MBP is def a bit more versatile. I was dying to get a laptop because editing at my desk all day was driving me nuts. A luxury problem for sure. But now that I can work wherever I am (whether that’s the couch or a cafe or on a trip) has been good for my mental health 😅

If my 16 in MacBook is my primary work machine, I am not taking it out on the road with me. I would bring a MacBook Air or maybe a base model 14 in MacBook. I prefer to use a tablet to read mail and documents or to watch movies when traveling. Or just my phone if traveling light.
