M1 Tank Platoon 2 (Microprose 1998, PC) : WW3 Campaign: first two missions

M1 Tank Platoon can be hard to get running right in windows 10, using Dxwnd is a good option and they have a custom config profile for M1 TP 2
I am using though Dosbox in this video, with windows 95 installed on it - so ingenious that Dosbox can be used to run win 95. It only supports software mode, but fortunately M1TP2 had excellent graphics for software mode also.
The campaign missions are dynamic, each mission will be determined by your success in the previous mission and also events in the whole campaign theater. This is version 1.2 of M1 Tank Platoon 2. It is worthwhile also having M1 TP in versions 1.0 and 1.1 as there are small differences in all of them that each can give different experiences. The Air support on both sides in version 1.1 for example is super aggressive and will be all over the battlefield wreaking havoc, while in version 1.2, its a litle more muted and Helos stay further back, launching their agm's from afar.
It is probably due to the more aggressive AA in version 1.2 that causes this

Excellent! A friend gave me his old IBM Aptiva 2000 era desktop and I added 3Dfx hardware to make M1TP2 run well. Then I got a Microsoft Sidewinder 3D gameport joystick. I believe it’s the optimum setup for this game.

I actually modded mine and switched the 120mm cannon firing sound using the Counterstrike 1.6 AWP sound, and for the coaxial machine gun I used mp5 smg sound, it really fits and gives you more immersion when firing the weapons with a bigger punch of a sound.

i had some sound mods in my folders too that i added in sometimes, - changes to the sounds of damage, rockets, m16 fire, i twas great how easy the game was to alter those aspects.

for this i was using dosbox running windows 95 - you can find this is all in one package, available to buy from the website "Allvideo Classic Games". its an easy install of the game setup to run straight away using win95 in dosbox, so you dont have to do any fiddling around yourself to get it to run
