Thanks! Great detail! I am rebuilding an M416 and this is one of my steps to complete.

Do you think it will be ok to use at tires on this trailers? I wonder if it will hold as you mentioned yourself the wheels are holding on the axel by bearings. I really interested in your though on this. Because you see a lot of people buying those trailers and converting them into off road trailer.

Great question! There’s a lot of discussion out there. A few key points: 1) Trailer tires don’t need traction 2) Trailer tires don’t steer Trailer tires support a load, and you don’t want them to go flat (strong sidewall and belt) or resist rolling forward. There is an ongoing debate about thinner and taller (less rolling resistance and don’t drag axle in snow or mud) vs wider (float, don’t sink). On the trailer, I have opted for tall and narrow (original NDCC tires). If you want to match the look of the tires on your rig or have a common spare, M/Ts or A/Ts make sense. Otherwise I’d run trailer tires. That said, in my experience, the hubs and bearings will handle larger and heavier wheel and tire sets just fine. Hope that helps!

@@IronWolfOverland Thank you a lot for this clear feedback! I am interested in buying one and they already have wide tires on. So I was thinking that maybe those tires destroy the bearing. So now I can be sure that it will not. It's just because I have to drive 100 km on the highway with the trailer hooked to my car if i want to buy it. However, thank you again.

Still debating on buy and fix one of this m416 or save the money and buy a new one ? M416: It is money, time and sweat. CVT: +- $8000. Others: thousands more. Your thoughts?

I’d go with the M416. The Mil Spec components are tough to beat!

Your rack looks like it's bolt on not welded? Do you have a video about it? I couldn't find one. If not can you tell me about your setup? I'm building my M416 and I was going to weld on a rack for my canoe and kayak but if I can do something that is removable that's even better.

Correct - mine is removable. I give more details on my video that is a walk-through of the trailer. Unfortunately, that exact rack is no longer available, but similar racks should work: AA-Racks 800Ibs Capacity Extendable Steel Pick-Up Truck Ladder Rack Two-bar Set - Black (USPTO Patent Pending) www.amazon.com/dp/B07WKKXGBX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_TBW3SCKMNHFN1JRHBAJF

Question, if i were to need to replace the wheel studs would i just need to remove the hub as you did and punch them out or is there another step needed?
@IronWolfOverland3 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure one of the videos out there does show stud replacement; but, yes, you can pound them out. If you look about 10:37 you can see the back side of the wheel studs on the hub. I’ve never had to replace one, but should be able to pound old one out and new one in.
