The "I'm not weak, I'm not my mother" line does make sense. Ma and Maggie's mom were cool (to some degree), but she stood by knowing what they were going to do to Ma. Maggie wasn't going to just leave and let Genie get hurt. Thus, she's not like her mother in that regard.

Yup, always stand up for your friends, even if it means being outnumbered.
@plantbasedboochАй бұрын
I agree that it makes sense to the viewer. It just didn't seem like Maggie was at odds with her mom over her past, especially since she didn't really know the full history. At least that's my take on it!

What's genius about the mercedes kill, and the turn in general, is that they wait until AFTER they reveal the full backstory. like, its not until you see what happened in the past that she really snaps. I thought the structure of that was a brilliant choice. much better then it being, oh here's a crazy psycho killing people, oh and here's her tragic backstory we reveal near the end.

this is always so fascinating to me since i never once went to a party, nor had an adult friend as a kid, nor drank underage. I was not sheltered, I just didn't care for any of that and was more introverted. So movies like these interest me a lot, especially when reactors talk about how much they relate to the teens. I'm kind of glad I never experienced these things.
@ChrisTheAspergerGuy8 ай бұрын
I'll have to see this movie in it's entirety to grasp the full context, but based on the clips alone, it seems like another good cautionary tale about how important it is to be nice to people when you're in high school.

He is from Girl Meets World, portrayed Stuart Meekus' son. This is second collaboration between Octavia Spencer and director Tate Taylor (who has a small cameo in Ma film as the cop frisking the kids and something happens to him in the climax), first being Get on Up the James Brown biopic with the late Chadwick Boseman.
