@@anyone_but_methat’s your interpretation. But many many times that’s not what’s going on. I’ve never seen a judge behave this way. She actually ended court (on another day) for the day DURING CROSS EXAMINATION with 30 minutes left in the day. The defense was on a roll. She wanted to stop their flow. She allows the prosecution to waste HOURS of time on who their children are, who their relatives are, what their job is, how much it was snowing, redundant testimony and on and on. But the minute the defense slightly expounds upon anything she apologizes to the jury as if the defense is wasting their time. And it’s sickening. A person’s life is on the line. And I can’t stand the way she says I’ll give it to you instead of overruled. Like she’s granting some sort of favor. She’s not a queen granting a favor she’s their as an arbiter of the law.

@ravenzyblack I'm sure you are right, but they gotta know the optics of how much everyone is drinking just makes them look horrible. Especially when, I think it was Proctor, that was showed to be drinking and driving his police cruiser so much that he actually lost his service weapon and badge in the other cops car. That looks absolutely horrible, yet they are going to ignore all of that drinking and driving and focus on her. I'm a huge supporter of our police force, but I always believe they should be held to a higher standard when it comes to committing crimes and their punishments should be more severe. If you are going to be the one judging and making lawful decisions about me, then you better be a stand up, boyscout type, law abiding citizen!

At this point, the main argument in favour of Karen Read for me is that if the prosecution's theory about her hitting John was right, none of these witnesses would have any reason to be so dishonest or deceitful, especially the public servants involved. Yet, almost all of them are.

But while I find that interesting to ponder, it feels like that puts me in the position of trying to find a way that the cw's case is true. In terms of Read's trial, trying to find a way that the prosecution theory is correct is polar opposite to the reasonable doubt standard for Read.

The “smoking motive-gun” by the defense today, was not a motive at all for murder. This case is so weak. She had a little flirty, attention seeking, trying to make John jealous text convo over a couple of weeks, because she thought he had been unfaithful - and then she completely ghosted the guy and was loved up with John that night. And then with the butt dials, destruction of phones, BH’s all drunken nighter on the station, back and forth with him and Brian Albert, being in the sally port and clearly discussed the investigation not only with his LE buddies, but all the people present that night, and with everything else the defense has got in about the botched investigation - I’m done. I can’t see the prosecution getting to their burden of proof.

From what I’ve heard about his injuries, through testimony, they sound more like an injury or injuries you would get in a physical fight. I think it’s more likely than not that he was beat up than hit by SUV. Why would he have a goose egg over his right eye tail light be busted out? Was he on his knees? How did he get a cash in the back of his head when he was 12 feet up in the yard? I fell in the grass last fall and broke my leg, but I didn’t bleed anywhere! I really feel like this investigation was rigged. I am not a conspiracy theorist and rarely someone is being framed, but I’m believing it more and more with this trial. I realize we’re getting ready to start the fifth week and hopefully there’s more info to come, but if I had to come to a decision on what I know right now, I would say she’s not guilty! I don't agree with EDB that KR's comments about the children are that bad. Yes, they will feel bad for the children to hear. But being a stepparent is hard and often very unfair. You get more burdens than joy. From all accounts KR seemed to do well with them, but it puts major stress on the relationship. Ask any stepparent. John's family can be angry all they want but they sure as hell weren't there to do their part. KR was a better parent to the kids than they were.

I agree with you. As someone that grew up with a “step dad” figure-he did the majority of the work when it came to parenting me, taking care of the house, getting me where I needed to go, etc. My house was extremely chaotic. My mom has been dealing with depression since I was born and all she did while I was growing up was lay in bed. She went to the important events, like soccer/basketball games and high school graduation, but… that was it. I mean, she showed up more than my biological father did. My “step-dad” showed up more than both of them while he was in my life. He got so tired of my mom not wanting to do anything, dealing with my older sister-who was a grown ass adult with three kids who didn’t graduate high school, never got a job, and hardly ever took care of her kids-and my eldest nephew, who was a demon, no fault of his own though: it was his mother’s fault. Step-parents are the ones who pick up all the slack.

She did says she was very attached to the girl. Kerry said the boy was mostly with her and the girl with Karen. I think that it would be hard to have a live-in boyfriend who all the sudden took on two teenagers. You would not have the love for them that he does. you could grow to love them, but it would not be the same. If they were small children and you raise them, you would start loving them as your own teenagers are a whole new ball of wax.

They’re actually trained NOT to ask that last question, because you never know what the witness will say. The story used to illustrate this was from a mob hitman’s trial, the witness was a concierge at a New York hotel: (Lawyer goes through estimates of how many guests per day, how many per year, how many years guy worked there) So, after seeing hundreds of people every day over the 20 years you worked there, how could you POSSIBLY remember a 10 second interaction with my client? -Because that was the only time in my life someone put a gun to my face and said if I ever told anyone what I’d seen he’d kill me and my family. So yeah, you ask all the questions leading up to the point, but you never ask that last one.

4:18:00 “Administrative work” is not moving work vehicles. Lie after lie after lie, most small, but they have been common with every witness that was present that morning. The only ones that came across truthful weren’t involved that night or morning in any way. This is the strangest case ever. I was 100% positive that Read was guilty until this guy. His motive is 10x that of Karen. Prosecution made a big mistake with the Aruba witnesses. Read had no motive. She was not married, no kids, and financially independent - she could have moved into her vacant house she owned within a couple hours. Higgins, though, was hot and heavy for Karen. He was ghosted after Read played with his heart and his libido for over a month. The night of the murder, he was texting her, “ummmmmm well?” and Karen didn’t respond. He sat here stewing for a couple hours. He was highly intoxicated at this point. He left the bar early and ambushed John soon after he exited Read’s SUV. I think Brian Albert and Jen McCabe know what happen. The rest know very little or nothing.

One of the weirdest details of this case that I don’t hear anyone talking about much is how everyone cruised to the Alberts after The Waterfall to join the kids and continue partying (definitely the Albert’s daughter was intending to stay the night) yet within an hour (allegedly) people were scattering like flies. Julie turned down a ride from her brother yet caught a ride with the McRaes soon thereafter. I feel whatever occurred was between her turning down that ride from her brother and her exit with the McCraes. Higgins claims he rolled up around 12:20/30 and left between 12:30 and 1.… because he doesn’t… drink beer. IMO there is no way the Albert’s do not have hard liquor in their home. No way am I buying that. IMO Higgins was there longer. They all were. The timing of the :22 call between Higgin’s and Albert is very close to Jen’s “Hos” Google search. Seems likely to me whatever went down was more than likely between 1:00 and 2am. Unfortunately, because everyone seems to be untruthful about the timeline nothing makes sense.
