Continuing with this case is a waste of taxpayers money, the possibility of cross contamination of evidence and the methods used to investigate the case alone means there’s absolutely no possibility of Karen Reid being found guilty. It’s impossible for anyone to be “beyond reasonable doubt” about anything that’s been given in evidence thanks to the investigator’s ineptitude and for that reason the officers involved should be fired and lose their pensions. The result of the FBI enquiry will be VERY interesting!

The confusing part of the ER physician testimony for me is that he says he wouldn't document injuries to the extremities unless they were pertinent to the resuscitation, but he noted the abrasions to the arms - certainly not pertinent to the resuscitation. This leads me to believe injuries below the neck were not present except for the forearm abrasions. I've worked in ERs, and it's true that if the resuscitation was not successful, imaging would not be performed, but the condition of the body, including the lower limbs, would almost certainly be noted.

@TheEmilyDBaker - I'm not sure of your BAC draws in the US, but here in Australian ERs, we have Blood Alcohol kits with THREE glass tubes and triple carbon forms. Two tubes are placed with the first and 2nd page of the completed papers, however, the 3rd tube is given straight away to the patient it was drawn from and we tell them to keep it for at least six months to have it privately tested if they want to dispute the official results. We have a metal closed box that is attached to the wall with a lock that the official police officer attached to the unit in charge of driving around to all ERs to collect the closed units and deliver them to the official pathology unit. So no individual police officer or other staff can access the large metal containers once the two tubes are placed with the paperwork, which also then has a log book that we complete the specimen and paperwork numbers for each patient.

Re: juvenile DUI’s & Emily being astounded by teenagers making the choice to drink & drive when they aren’t supposed to be doing either. To be clear, I have lost friends to DUI’s & I also find it infuriating & heartbreaking when I hear about DUI-related accidents/injuries/deaths! That said, the least surprising type of DUI are those involving teenagers. Why? Bcuz the human brain doesn’t fully develop until approx age 25, and the last part of the brain of to develop is the frontal lobe - which includes the ability to process action/consequence & the ability to rationalize & use critical thinking skills vs reactionary behaviour during dynamic & high stress situations. It is far more likely that a teenager would end up making impulsive & risky choices, than it is for an adult 25 yo+. This is even more true of teenagers who have experienced trauma and/or do not have strong connections/attachments to supportive adults/guardians/family groups. These situations can also impact brain development, compounding risky choices and behaviour. Teenagers are NOT capable of processing a situation in the same way as an adult!! One way to counteract this is to periodically review hypothetical scenarios w/your teenager prior to potential opportunity’s for risky choices. That way the info is fresh in the kids mind. Make sure your kid knows that they can always call for a ride for them/friends no questions asked, provide a credit card/lyft account, talk about the other options to DUI/being a passenger, and about consequences that are close to home. Also, mitigate: make sure to check in w/parents at sleepovers; make sure kids know you will be awake at curfew or you will pick them up -so they know they will see you in person. Require shared social media passwords for them to have it, or report the account as underage. Etc.

Just to let you know that I was offered a position in medical school after I had only 90 hours of college however I did have several years of experience and teaching experience as a critical care paramedic and had written papers on emergency care my thesis ( laughs) was in emergency care for head injuries and CVA ( strokes ) which is still referred to by medical school’s. I never did accept admission so I can only assume the letter for acceptance was proof.

UGH I JUST LOVE YOU SO MUCH can we get a 23 and me already because you feel like my long lost auntie lolol. Dr B bringing you coffee is peak bad a$$ behavior and I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT. (*Also I had Alanis's "Visiting hours are 9-5 and if I show up at half past six well I....I'm not the doctorrrrrr" in my head because of something you said in this video and it's led me on a jagged lil pill wormhole! THANKS FOR THAT EMILY.)

i've had a peek in to the future, my 17 year old speaks like the dr, soft tone and has so much info to get out he trails off at times so quiet I have to say speak up or look at me I can't hear you. I felt so bad for him when she switched the fans off.

EDB! You want to know about sewers? My husband could have told you about how water systems work! He is a grade IV operator and the superintendent for the City of Dunlap's water system! (This is the red head with the nervous member, and my Legend of Dad husband, also the one with the Salty watermelon whiskey! Great to meet you and thank you again!

The Judge makes it seem like a punishment when she has to tell them to speak up and turn off the fan- like, it’s not his fault!!!

In MA we can’t afford multiple swabs for dna testing to put someone away for life, I guess a $10 clip on microphone for the lawyers in the courtroom can’t fit in the budget also! I’m embarrassed by my state.

Do not understand why the ER doctor was callled instead of one of the nurses. Especially since a nurse wrote the report and everyone knows nurses run the hospital.

Came a bit late into the trial (about a week) and people were already complaining about the judge which I didn’t fully understand why. Now I do. I’m one of you now 😅 Poor guy

I always listen to EDB at 1.25. and I have no problem when she plays court at 1.25 . It sounds normal to me. I now might have the explanation as to why people have a hard time understanding me.

Neck X-rays are generally standard in an unknown reason of coming in with a head trauma. At least in our trauma clinics to my knowledge.
@bshows895 ай бұрын
In my experience as an X-ray tech, they usually wait for cervical X-rays or CT until the patient has been resuscitated. If they weren't successful in the resuscitation, it doesn't surprise me that they didn't do any imaging. The medical examiner will often order X-rays for autopsy purposes when indicated, but the ER physician wouldn't be aware of that imaging.

WHY is this first witness so defensive against the defence??? Odd behaviour like this has been consistent throughout this trial and further helps the defences case. Back peddling, defensiveness, memory loss, cold, uncaring behaviour and distancing from the victim from so many witnesses, “professional” and personal. Shocking.

Did they do a drug test to see if he was giving drugs knowingly or not knowingly?
@smurfmonster5 ай бұрын
I very much doubt it, they didn’t carry out DNA testing on the blood that was in the solo cups that was collected from the snow to confirm it was the victim’s blood, that’s absolute BASIC police work and they didn’t do it. Concern that it could be someone other than the victims blood perhaps…….???

How is it an SUV hit Mr O'Keefe and no injuries below the head ? Wouldn't he at least have bruises in the abdomen somewhere? If the speed of the SUV was enough to throw a shoe off , that seems like a forceful impact, yet no bruises? Unless he's only 3-4 ft tall, no way did a car or SUV hit his head. What hit his head?

X-ray vision lally expected from the it guy with the disk hes never seen. Red solo cups? Anything truly is possible. Unless they show a video of Karen hitting John with her car I won’t believe she is guilty beyond reasonable doubt. He was a cop, a “brother in blue” if you will and this is the investigation he gets? If it's an accident it's automatically coroner case to rule out accident or injury by another. He should have had chest and neck X-Ray to rule out collapsed lung or hemothorax. Doesn't seem like much was done for him. Sad.
