I don’t know much about the case, but the prosecutor referring to the deceased body as “it” multiple times makes me extremely angry, especially with HIS family in the room. Instead of asking “where was it located?” ask “where was John located?” or “where was the victim located?” From the opening statements and on, it really sounds like the prosecution doesn’t even care. Emily has speculated on this, and I have to say I agree. This feels like the prosecutor was told that he was bringing this to trial regardless of how he felt about all of it. I have never before seen a trial with a prosecution that was this scattered and seemingly apathetic. Times where an objection feels like it would help, but there is none, even times where the judge seems to prompt the prosecution to object rather than them doing it themselves. Defense on the other hand is clearly passionate, and very particular about when they object and how they ask questions. I understand they have more rope on cross than CW has on direct, but the difference between the rambling what if any questions is stark.

Witness Katie McLaughlin (a Canton Firefighter/Paramedic) graduated from Canton High w/ Caitlin Albert in 2014. When the Defense brought up photos of McLaughlin socializing & being in the same friend group w/ Caitlin Albert, Lally objected to the jury seeing those photos. Judge Cannone sustained. This jury is being deprived of any knowledge & evidence of the many ways in which the Alberts had their hands in this investigation. *Kevin Albert, Brian Albert's brother, arranged Katie McLaughlin's interview* w/ MSP Trooper Proctor _AFTER_ Canton PD was expelled & Massachusetts State Police was assigned to investigate instead (due to a _conflict of interest_ with Kevin & Brian's relationship). Kevin was conflicted out & then spoke to the witness - which could be called "witness tampering!" This is the _ONLY_ witness who claims to have heard Karen say she hit John, and she happens to be biased - yey the judge doesn't want the jury to know that! In fact, she prevented them from knowing it, and they must instead infer the truth solely from Jackson's unanswered questions of McLaughlin as to who arranged her police interview. This is a violation of Karen Read's rights & prohibitive of a fair trial. A man was found deceased on Brian Albert's lawn, and NOBODY in his home at the time was ever investigated. The home was never SEARCHED. Trooper Proctor's text messages to friends revealed that the Alberts _wouldn't be investigated_ because Brian was "a Boston cop." The corruption has been *_displayed on a silver platter_*

If it was like 50 people, there's a chance that they could just have some mutual friends, but if there's only like 10 people, I'd say it's pretty likely that all 10 are pretty good friends with each other. I didn't watch the trial today, but someone also mentioned that there's a picture of them drinking and hugging each other - though that may be the same "class trip" picture. *Kevin Albert, Brian Albert's brother, arranged Katie McLaughlin's interview* w/ State Trooper Proctor _AFTER_ Canton PD was banned from the case & Massachusetts State Police was assigned to investigate instead (due to a _conflict of interest_ created by Kevin & Brian's relationship). That is *IMPROPER!* When attorney Jackson asked McLaughlin about this on the stand, Lally objected & Judge Cannone sustained. McLaughlin graduated from Canton High with Caitlin Albert in 2014 in a class of 213. When attorney Jackson brought up photos of McLaughlin socializing & being in the same friend group with Caitlin Albert since 2014, Lally objected to the jury seeing those photos. Judge Cannone sustained. This jury is being deprived of any knowledge & evidence of the many ways in which the Alberts had their hands in this investigation. The judge is withholding evidence of the witness's bias from the jury! The _ONLY_ witness who claims to have heard Karen say she hit John happens to have been friends with Brian Albert's daughter for over ten years - and the judge doesn't want the jury to know that! In fact, she prevented them from knowing it, and they must instead infer what the true facts are solely from Jackson's unanswered questions of McLaughlin (a Canton PD Firefighter/Paramedic). As Jackson stated for the record, this is a violation of Karen Read's rights & prohibitive of a fair trial. I remind you that a man was found deceased on Brian Albert's lawn, and NOBODY in his home at the time was ever investigated. The home was never SEARCHED. The corruption is *_staring you in the face!_*

What's easier is just not giving deceptive responses while under oath in court. "Do I know Caitlin Albert? Yes, we went to high school together and loosely socialized. We're friends on social media and have taken multiple pictures together on social occasions." Why is that so hard to say? And when is "there was a person with that name at my high school" a reliable response? She was coached to distance herself from Caitlin, 100%.

Yeah I think she would have been better off letting them admit the photos because I think the jury would understand it's not abnormal to have photos with people you lost touch with. Parsing herself and distancing herself to this extent seemed far less realistic

I’ve been looking for a comment like this. I graduated a year before her. If you showed me pictures of people from my high school years that i was around i don’t know them. And we’re not friends. I don't see it. She was probably being evasive, yes, but I'd also have been evasive too when facing down a lawyer in court who seemed intent on twisting my words and badgering me until i agreed with him. At that point you are getting the minimum from me. There are mistakes in every investigation, but most of them are what I'd consider "stupid" mistakes, the kind that automated systems make. The defense hasn't shown me any grand conspiracy yet, just the same kind of tech errors that I'm very familiar with. On the other hand, the prosecution hasn't shown me a single reason why they brought this case either. If all you have is a statement made during a time of heightened emotion that only one or two people heard, that's not enough. You need a smoking gun or lots and lots of small points of evidence. Its still early, but I'm waiting for the prosecution to tell me why they believe she did it.

Hello EDB, Aussie Emergency Nurse, university academic also with Juris Doctor here. I am late to the case and only found your KZbin channel two days ago. I wanted to clarify what I heard - Nuttall stated the D was moving around while he was caring for the airway and he heard her say it not only on that occasion but also that he could hear her say it a few times. As an airway nurse or EMT, it is amazing how much you can hear what is happening around you as you are not the one moving around reaching for drugs or counting chest compressions. Also, it is essential in a resuscitation situation for the team leader or senior doctor/nurse/EMT to maintain what we teach - "situational awareness". This is especially important for the first responder in this case as he stated he went along with the other two Fire Fighter - Paramedic...he was more senior so would have been the one to have a "birdseye view". Given this information, I have no doubt he was able to hear her say it on more than one occasion (perhaps not when Katie was questioning her in that circle of people) and he clarified that both were true. In regards, to the issue of the discussion around the FF/Paramedics writing up the alleged statement by Karen Read, is not their role and they should only be documenting clinical information about their patient in fact, it would be silly for them to document anything that may lead to criminal charges/legal arguments etc. The same would be the case in a hospital situation - it should not be documented in any report or patient notes, which is essentially what the Paramedic's notes are also, with a copy given to the ER on arrival.
