The fix for a common problem I see with most older Mac chainsaws. The fuel lines rot away and the repair can be made a lot easier if you follow these simple steps. Replace that rotten oil feed hose too! #smallenginerepair

My Grandpa gave me a chainsaw in exchange for some tree work, but the primer bulb was busted. Upon tearing it apart, the fuel lines were all crumbs floating around…your video helped me greatly, got that sucker running tonight! Thank you sir

Thanks, big help with the fuel line issue I have. At the 6:40 mark, I'm more of a big fan of the cell phone pics so I can refer to the parts layouts. Thanks again Greasy...

For the oil line I use 5mm NBR rubberhose. What I noticed is that the oil gear on the crankshaft is not locked with a key against rotation. it's spring loaded under the flywheel and hold on by friction. I used loctite press fit to fix the worm gear on the cranskshaft. I also noticed the oiltank vent is clogged or stick together of by the use of biobased oil. Also be very carefull with repositioning the flywheel especially with the spring underneath pushing it up out of key position.

I had one of those in 1998. I got it for $99 at Target I believe. Ran good, but was pain for me to start being a Southpaw. My fingernails would get caught on the air box cover when pulling the rope. I ripped fingernails several times.

Great video. Bought mine in 90's sometime and rarely use it, so now it needs this whole procedure done. On the bottom of saw it says Walbro carb. Can't seem to find a kit for it. Looking for good parts dealer online. Any help would be great. This was perfect size saw for what I needed and liked it a lot.
@TheGreasyShopRag Жыл бұрын
You'll need to remove the carb and get all the numbers off it then go to Walbros site and find the kit number. Fromm there most any shop can get you the kit.

The supply line with a filter will go to the bottom of the tank but how far into the tank does the return line need to go
@TheGreasyShopRag2 ай бұрын
Just far enough so it won't get pulled out accidentally. Maybe up to an inch.
@yogibaer21606 ай бұрын
Why is there two holes in the gas tank. I believe you said input vs output but i still can't figure out where the second fuel line goes into if there's no port to connect to on the carburetor there's one coming from the tank into the left side and the premier bulb to right side of carburetor do I need a splitter so to speak but where does it go to
@TheGreasyShopRag6 ай бұрын
Its a big circle with the primer, carb and fuel tank all players. The line from the tank with the filter goes to the clutch side of the carb. Then from the other side of the carb run a line to the short stem of the primer. Now the primer has just one long stem left and that is the return line to the tank.

The "taper" we cut on the tubing is what I call a "quill". All of that Tygon tubing I see sold for small engine repair is of that yellow tint instead of the clear type sold in hardware stores. I wonder if there is a difference?
@TheGreasyShopRag Жыл бұрын
Dunno, never bought fuel line in a hardware store. I've always just used whatever brand the shop was stocking without giving it much thought. I've never had much for problems with it so never suggested a change.

Do you have a part number for the air filter media you cut and used?

I just spent way to long fixing a cracked bar oil tank fill spout on a McCulloch 3516. It has a very similar tank to the 3200. Have you run across this and is it possible to just buy a new tank somewhere? 😎
@TheGreasyShopRag Жыл бұрын
It doesn't look like that tank is available anymore.

My carb's return line is smaller diameter than the fuel line and is loose and just spins. I thought this was possible yet its not looking good.

Ya I don't know why they felt two different sizes was the way to go.

I don't have any factory specs for that saw but I'd start at 1 1/2 or 2 turns on bothe screws.

What‘s the diameter of the fuel line?
@TheGreasyShopRag Жыл бұрын
Sorry, we sell it by the foot no matter what diameter so I rarely pay attention to sizes.

Ya you'll get that. I know I could make better videos if I were making videos on my time just for youtube. Thats not the case. I'm on the clock at work just recording the event. The boss don't pay me to "make videos" but he will let me record repairs. Thanks for watching.
