In upgrading and tuning this pistol I think I can attribute that failure to feed to excessive extractor tension.

I have done some minor upgrades to my Mac 9 DS - reduced the recoil spring to 12 lbs, added a shock buff, and did a V6 porting (essentially replicated your Tisas porting). The gun has improved. I am waiting to see what upgrades you will do and will try to learn from them. Thanks.

I love your reviews, I find them very informative and will now probably buy one since I have a RIA tac ultra fs HC I have completely customized. I need a new project

Some similar issues with mine - disconnector nearly hung upon delivery, sent it back. Mags would not drop free - empty or fully loaded - when in slide lock. Sent mags back for review/service, then sent back firearm once again as mags were deemed functionally fine.🤭. Returned to me again, trigger tuned and now < 3 lbs, grip safety inspected good, ejector tuned, mags now drop free while firearm in any status, shoots well! Grip texture still marginal, but a decent 9mm DS now. Cust service was sluggish to reply 4-5 days, but RMAs issued without much questioning. Each return was < 3 weeks once I shipped. Moderately and cautiously happy after 4 full mags, so only durability still unknown yet. Like the firearm and hope my confidence is further restored and another 2-3 hundred rounds. Range toy and do not plan to carry anytime. I also installed 12# recoil and reduced power hammer and mag release springs.

Dang that quite the saga! Thanks for sharing your experience. Interesting data points. I sure hope its finally sorted out for you!

Love your videos, looking forward to the next one. I use this for uspsa and it has been very good. All it needs is shorter trigger, tuned springs, and grip texture, which can be solved for less than $100. Wish someone came out with threaded mag release though, will switch to prodigy grip for that reason
@dltz18 күн бұрын
Sounds like a great setup! These things can perform great with a few bucks and some elbow grease and know how. As far as I can tell these use the Gen 2 Staccato mag release pattern.

@@dltz yeah I don't think anyone makes a threaded staccato gen 2 mag release unfortunately

I’m here for this! I got my tisas double stack, in the process of upgrading it similar to what you did. Been entertaining the idea of upgrading to the Mac afterwards but kinda want to know if a upgraded tisas will be optimal enough until i can get maybe a staccato

Your front and rear sights appear to be taller the ones that came on mine. Did you change them? If so what did you go with?
@dltz7 күн бұрын
They are the factory iron sights. The rear one on the optic plate is taller than the rear one on the slide cover plate. In my upgrades video on this pistol I replaced the front sight and give a little detail on it.

Check my channel. Just posted a video about the upgrades I did to this. Have a whole series of videos on the Tisas 1911 carry DS. And a detailed comparison between the two.

I love mine. It’s been flawless. Only thing I need to change are the springs cause the trigger is definitely heavy
@dltz19 күн бұрын
You could get the trigger down to 4 pounds with a simple sear spring adjustment. Maybe drop the main spring down to 21# if you want to go lower than that (factory main spring is 23#).

Has anyone thought about changing the barrel in the ds? Someone mentioned doing this to make the weapon all black and now I can’t stop thinking about it
@dltz18 күн бұрын
Tisas offer replacement barrels. I think they are all chrome. This gun has a standard commander length 9mm 1911 barrel with a clark/para ramp. Should be lots of options out there.

Is that the front sight that comes on the MAC 9?
@dltz12 күн бұрын
Yes, it comes with the green fiber optic front sight.
@Wh0isDaveEast93x19 күн бұрын
Also, cost wise to confirm. Did you not think it’s worth it to go from a tisas double stack to the Mac?
@dltz19 күн бұрын
At $850... no not really. I think the prices on these will come down to sub $800. At that point the extra money over the tisas would be more worth it for the bull barrel.

Replace that grip with a Bul armory one.
@dltz14 күн бұрын
Its been replaced with a Prodigy grip module. Bul armory takes proprietary mags and isn't compatible with standard 2011 components. I am not sure it would even bolt to the standard 2011 frame.
