If you think about it, Bloo is basically the kid Mac never allowed himself to be. Consider Mac’s background: he and his brother, Terence, always fend for themselves since their mother is always working and their father is (presumably) dead. Terence obviously isn’t going to be mature, so Mac is only mature because he has to be. So, as previously stated, he created Bloo to be the kid he never allowed himself to be.

I gotta say, as heartwarming as these moments are, I feel that there are more bad moments than good ones with them. I actually see that as Mac gets older they’ll actually grow more and more apart. Mac growing up while Bloo remains the stupid, obnoxious jerk we know him to be usually. They’ll start fighting a lot then eventually Mac just leaves and moves on from Foster’s making human friends and not looking back. Bloo getting adopted as well. It’d be for the best if it really got too much.
