I was blown away 🎉😮! I didn’t think the 2019 would be that much faster. I also didn’t think the 2013 would playback and render as fast as it did. The 2013 Mac Pro is still a good machine. I wonder how well the 2013 will perform with ProRES HQ/4444/422? Thank you for sharing. 😊
@DarrenMostyn21 күн бұрын
I still have that machine now used for beta testing. Works fantastic with prores 4444 as thats what i used to deliver from it regularly.

@@DarrenMostyn Appreciate your response. How long have you been using this Mac Pro?

@@WarriorsPhoto I changed it last year. I generally update every 4-5 years. Im now on Mac Ultra M

@@WarriorsPhoto Its faster on most things but not all. However half the price of the MacPro2019 - Apple Silicion flies on most of Resolves needs.

I've got the 12core 2013 Mac Pro with 64gb and dual gpus and a 2019 5k imac (not pro) with Vega gpu and the imac is noticeably faster in everyway especially in playback.

Subscribed!!!! very nice video. Anyway, Do you think is it worth buying Mac pro 2013 12 core, RAM64gb, DUO D300 today? I mean for 4k color grading. I'm on a budget anyway.
@DarrenMostyn4 жыл бұрын
Hi. The D300 is only 2GB VRAM. Not suitable for 4K at all. The Mac Pro 2013 you need to look for D700 graphics card only. Hope that helps.

@@DarrenMostyn So if I could replace my D300 to D700. that would works
@DarrenMostyn4 жыл бұрын
@@rithhouroudom Yes, we have a 2013 machine with dual D700 and can play back most 4K (depends on codec). You won't get much real time after a few nodes though, but it is a great machine.
@rithhouroudom4 жыл бұрын
@@DarrenMostyn what about using dual D300 but add eGPU?
@DarrenMostyn4 жыл бұрын
@@rithhouroudom eGPU is thunderbolt 3 so you would need to check with Blackmagic design. Post on their forum. All the best.

Thanks for the test. Can you re-run the playback test but put 100fps as playback so we can see max speeds on the new macpro. Also would it be possible to get that project file to compare with other machines. A new benchmark ;)
@DarrenMostyn4 жыл бұрын
Hi. Im happy to run a test at 100fps for you. Unfortunately I can't share that project as it contains a TV commercial I got permission to use for the test but not for distribution. If you would like to send me a small project (as a Resolve.dra file then I can compare for you. All the best, Darren.

Super helpful Darren!! I can now blame you for pulling the trigger for me on the new MacPro when my lovely wife asks! 👍🏻😂 In terms of just general use and days to day working in Resolve have you noticed a marked improvement? Cheers, Alex
@DarrenMostyn4 жыл бұрын
Hi Alex. If it makes you feel better, I ordered mine and it then still took me another 48 hours to actually put my credit card details in and press SEND - I told my wife 48 hours after that ! I did a lot of research and had some excellent advice from peers in my community. I haven't done much with it yet apart from this test as I'm still in transition period from the 2013 and the 2019. I'll be sure to keep you posted on how I get on with it. If there is any particular test you would like me to do then let me know here and I'll try for you. All the best, Darren.

Hey Darren, are you using one of the Duo RV2 cards in this machine? So, 2 x 32GB for 64GB total. One MPX module.
@DarrenMostyn4 жыл бұрын
@@AlexCameron-Depiqd Hi Alex. Yes, one MPX Module Duo Vega II card.

Spec is: 16 core, DUO Vega II (single module), 96GB RAM and Afterburner card. 2TB SSD
@AlexCameron-Depiqd4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Darren. Thought so but wanted to be clear. Almost exactly the same spec I’m looking at too. Think Apple have actually increased the price slightly as was coming out before at around £12k but now closer to £14k. I might have added the wheels by mistake! 😆
@denindavis45853 жыл бұрын
Hey great video! Is there any way you could upload the project with the files you used so that i can compare my setup?
@DarrenMostyn3 жыл бұрын
Hi Denin. I don't own the rights to the footage for distribution. However if you want to do a short project and set up similar and send it to me then I'll happily give you the results. Doesn't need tons of footage as you can repeat the shots with different effects. Let me know if that works for you.

Thanks for the video but seriously you should really have had a maxed out 12 core Mac Pro with 64gigs of ram to compare it to the new Mac Pro. You're not even giving the Mac Pro a Chance.
@DarrenMostyn3 жыл бұрын
I don't have a 12core mac pro 2013 so I can only test my old machine with my new machine. Speaking to many people, the 2013 and this 2019 configuration I have here is a VERY popular spec for Resolve, so I think its a good test. You could then argue that I need a $50,000 mac pro 2019 to see which is best ?
@ymer25014 жыл бұрын
just curious, did the DUO Vega ran at x16 for both chips or divided to x8 each since the module shares 1 x16 pcie slot.
