The SSDs are only slow in base model of M2 AIR(i.e. 256ssd model) due to presence of only one 'nand' chip rather than 2 nand chips of 128gb each...but in 512gb and others SSD models you won't get slow speeds of SSD.....so you can go with M2 air but with 512 and more models rather than being scared of 256gb model slow speeds...nice video brother🙌🙌

@@amiya51 True that! Updrading both SSD and RAM will take it up to 1.6L which does not make sense as we can get M1 Pro 14inch at 1.95L and also at 1.75L with student discount offer. But since the M2 Air has performance drops for the 8GB version, it's recommended to get the 16GB version for people doing moderate demanding tasks, else spending 1.2L and not getting adequate performance does not make sense. Also M1 Air 16GB / 512GB version is available in flipkart at 1.22L only currently, which is another great deal!

IMO People are saying upgrade to 512GB SSD to fix the speed issues; while that will speed up the SSD it’s not going to fix swap memory issues which are where you see the slowdown. I’d imagine getting 16/24 GB RAM is a better idea. 8GB is not enough for Xcode, FCP and Android Studio at the same time. And if you run out of RAM, you can’t change your mind later; if you run out of drive space, it’s easier to rectify through an external drive.

Also There’s still a large price difference between the 16/256 M2 Air and the base 14” Pro

Firstly I like to say that every OS have swap memory linux windows android all of them have it mac also have it when it was created

SSD is not part of M2 chip, it is stand alone chip soldered next to M2 chip. And swap can be used with every device, especially in linux there is many possibilities how to configure swap. Only reason why swap is so good on new M1/M2 is because of speed of this SSD drives used with M1/M2 devices. But this king of fast PCIe4 SSD can be now used in latest notebooks and PC too. And swap is heavy load on SSD and especially on 256GB model it can shorten lifespan. And in MacBook it is not possible to change SSD so I will try to avoid swapping if possible. In short term it is good but if you want to use your new macbook for 5-6 years it is possible that it will fail one day.

Or should I increase my budget and purchase an M2 Macbook air. Actually I have already ordered M1 MacBook Air 7 days ago, and as they have launched M3 Macbook Air today, M1 has gotten cheaper, and probably I will be getting the refund of the price difference (of around 121 dollars). @@priyankmehra532 i don’t have experience with this devices but at least from what i saw on youtube tests. It depends on how much your use case is depend on speed of disk. And ofcoure if you are able to use all 16GB of memory then while swapping it can be slower. But Apple released Air with M3 yesterday and if i am not mistaken, they use again at least two nand chips even with basic ssd. At least Maxtech talked in video something about it. So generally M3 should have better performance.

Letting your MacBook rely on heavy swap usage can result in early wear out of the SSD. If you plan to run multiple memory hungry apps in parallel, a MacBook with at least 16GB of RAM is recommended. The SSD on MacBook air m1/m2 cannot be replaced once damaged by excessive thrashing.

Your own customised Linux distro is far better than mac-os....Also, You usually compare 50k windows laptops with 1lac mac machine (that's not fair). I mean mac is better in some scenarios but windows are not that bad, It might not suit your purpose but ask from those folks who needs to do graphics oriented tasks. Mac usually restrict you from going out of their environment and explore different technologies. Also, mac machines are a bit costly when we see specs to price ratio.

"M1, M" Chips comes with swap memory... " haha dude every computer has a swap memory, that means when the computer doesn't have enough RAM will use the SSD as RAM which is not healthy for the SSD. With other words if you see swap used that means you actually need more RAM.

Hi, I have been using this M2 since 1-2 months and it's been my first apple product. I found the mac more efficient while doing day to day productivity task. Where in windows, i see inconsistency. I have windows laptop which has i7-10870H a octa core processor and 16GB of ram (basically a gaming laptop with RTX3060). When it was new it worked quite good but as i started to install the applications and different ides etc i felt it became slow, like doing nothing keeps my CPU running at 4.0 -4.5Ghz and i started to see regular stutters (i.e. laptop Stucks for a while like if you re typing then it will stop registering you inputs for 1-2 seconds) and despite having SSD it takes too long to start some applications. i have installed many applications that i use in windows like MS office, Different IDES like Pycharm, Intelli J etc, in Mac but i don't feel any lag like windows. if you could do a review of these products after use of 1-2 months that would give much better idea. After using the MAC, windows feels quite slow. Windows may be good in gaming or other stuff but doing regular work like opening code editor, or opening/closing word/ppt etc. feels much much faster in the Mac. In windows sometimes we need to restart the OS to get everything in order. I am asking and telling because you mentioned about the windows laptop, but i feel that all windows laptops feels good when they are new but after a month they all feel sluggish.

Dell XPS series 2. Asus Zephyrus series 3. Asus Vivo book. Don't fall for gaming laptops. As they have worst battery life.

@@adarsh846 well it depends on the availability and the budget. I personally did not used laptops with 12th gen or above. I had 10th and 11th gen laptops with identical specs, and i found no noticeable difference between them. And you can see it was suggested 4 months ago. Surely now 10th gen won't makes sense.
