I loved your song, I started to write some of my favorite lyrics to say how they moved me but found myself writing out your whole song because they were all so moving and BRILLIANT. every line was poignant, thank you for sharing. My computer scene was blurry through tears after listening to Kate's beautiful song and then teary again after listening to yours, scrambling around for a tissue because I can hear my mum saying don't wipe your eyes with your fingers son. ❤

Thank you for offering to send lyrics, I know them now. I hope you don't mind but I put your song on my iPod (I still use iPod for my music) and was listening to it on the bus this morning on the way to work, kinda cool to think someone you don't know was listening to your music on a bus..chuckle..I love it, I love the message and sentiment. As I listened and looked out the bus window it looked like the people going about their lives was a video for your song. it's a little like Kate Bush in as much as it has depth and an healing feel to it. If you do upload your music can i suggest not to clump it with your normal channel. it needs its own space. If you want me to remove your song from my iPod I will, I felt a little cheeky just doing it without asking first but love it so much. THANK YOU. @@MaceAroundTheWorld

She's really sharing a lot with this one. Her and Del Palmer had split up after 10 years and her mother had died after battling cancer. All the names she mentions are people in her life who had died. She pretty much disappeared shortly after promoting this album. !0 years later she came back with Aerial but pretty much gave up the pop star side of it all. On Aerial she takes up her mothers death again in "A Coral Room". She also got married and had a son during those 10 years and said she got her life back. Aerial is a wonderful piece of work, very mature and beautifully put together. For me her " A Sky Of Honey" suite off it is her best work.

Another Kate Bush masterpiece. The spoken intro is not actually part of the song and does not feature on the album track. All the music videos for the Red Shoes album singles are taken from the footage of a 40-minute film called ‘The Line, The Cross and The Curve’ that Kate directed. In the film that section of spoken word is a transition piece between the songs ‘Lily’ and ‘Moments of Pleasure’.

It’s all part of the concept album the red shoes. It’s an old story about red ballet shoes that have possessive powers. Once on you can’t take them off. Unless someone takes them off and puts them on. Kate bush is simply extraordinary. I don’t think there is anyone like her. Pure artistry. A phenomenon, a national treasure. Love her to bits, to the moon and beyond. Thank you Kate for all of your songs that have given me such great memories as a child into adulthood. Xx

The concept of "The hills of time" is so powerful. We start at the very bottom and it seems the peak is so far away and it seems to take forever to reach it. But once we reached that summit the journey downwards becomes faster and faster. It's the same as our progression from child to adult and then to old age. Amazingly simple but so full of meaning and feeling. Love you Kate.

Hi and thanks for this. Yes indeed - what a song. But also, what a singer, what a songwriter, and what a producer. While this is not an official song video but is part of a longer film piece, I really do like this presentation of 'Moments of Pleasure.' In the song as she tumbles down 'the hills of time' she dances one last time with people from her life who had died. And it is a very touching theme and image. and all the while it is accompanied by her beautiful vocals and production. Because of the way that she bends her voice in so many different ways in order to fit a song, it is easy to forget just what a phenomenal singer Kate Bush really is. This song is a wonderful reminder of just what a singer she really is. Thanks again for this.

That last guy was Bill, the lighting designer who died suddenly from falling through a trap door backstage on her first tour in 1979. I think the shock of tbat event may have been a factor that deterred her from touring for years. Also she apparentky has an irrational fear of flying..

For a note, in poetry culture, snow represents death frequently, winter represents death because all the plants die in that time, and many times in history, people would die in the winter for different reasons..... Her losing her mother, choreographer, producer, guitarist, and a stage assistant leading up to this at the end is heartbreaking, realizing shes lost so many

"The Red Shoes" is perhaps Kate's most personal album, normally Kate is a storyteller gaining inspirationfrom from books, films, and other people for example . However, this time, she included a lot of songs that reflected her own experiences at the time. In her personal life, she experienced a number of hammer blows - splitting up with her very long partner "Del Palmer" (the album features what can only be described as a break up song, its so sad). Despite the break-up he continued to work with Kate as a musician and her sound engineer. Sadly, he died recently. Also, while Kate was writing the album, her mother had a terminal illness, dying after the release of the album.

The New York segment recalls meeting Michael Powell (one of the directors of the 1948 film The Red Shoes) late in 1989 to discuss a film score he wanted her to compose. He died in February 1990, before the project could come to pass.

Yet without that base line of pain, there is no way to recognize or truly appreciate joy. "We live in a world of shadows, where the sun is shining just beyond the bend in the road, over the brow of a hill." CS Lewis Without the pain we are unable to recognize joy even when it envelopes us. You might enjoy a movie, "Shadowlands", based on the book by Lewis. It tells the story of his life with an American poet, "Joy" Gresham, whom he married. She died of bone cancer. His life was never the same while with her or after her passing. It stars Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger. It is sublime.

The video is part of an album of videos for all the songs on the album and follows the fairytale of the Red Shoes which force her to dance. The intro isn't really part of the song but the book of the movie.
