Awesome review. I’ve loved listening to all of your Mach-Hommy reviews; I play the video in the background and listen to the audio while I walk or do work. I think you can use your love for Nicholas Craven’s production to jump-start your relationship with Fahim. They have tape together called Tha Myth Who Never Quit. It’s on Tha God Fahim’s official KZbin channel. It has fire beats from the beginning and each is a perfect complement to Fahim’s unique flow and style. Would love to see a review of that one

I feel like Mach Hommy is more MF DOOM than Ghostface, they're really two sides of the same coin (such a shame the DOOMSTARKS project never finished. But the Victory Lapz Madvillainz remix is great. A good entry point to peak DOOM, who to me is really the best at placing words for assonance). Big shoutout to Nicholas Craven, one of Montréal's finest! There's also the recent Mach Hommy song with Kaytranada, payforhaiti, if people have missed that. A great French Haitian rapper is Connaisseur Ticaso.

i really love your point about good song writing being the practice of "finding the right words" as opposed to witty lyricism. i have always hated the opinion of people who dont see a lot of modern rap as well written, there is so much cool stuff out there. i like to say, it is not always about what you say but how you say it.

also i would suggest listening/watching MIKE and Jadasea's short EP Old Earth. it has part to do with how ancient west africa influenced human history and how it was lost to colonialism. it is super cool. i have yet to find anyone else who has analyzed it. would love to see a review. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hX_ElZl8iNyHbKc

The lemon reference where he says "they said you gotta start at the bottom again....now 911 Porsche..." lines is about making a mistake while working for a organized crime/cartel, going away, coming back, and then them making him start over again at the bottom doing grunt work for a little bit as punishment....thats what he meant...a lot of his music is like this balance between him being a part of a organization that is imbedded with intelligence work, international relations, organized crime, wealth, and socialist avcitism, and you don't know which part he plays..but you get the sense that he's involved in it all....mach drops a lot of breadcrumbs. Mach sampled a professor who is Fahim the gods friend in law school, who was convinced by fathom to start a charter school on the continent of Africa after becoming friends with fathom....You get the sense that Mach's family is in international relations, government, and/or intelligence work...similar to Earl Sweatshirt...but anyway...thats what he was talking about "picking lemons in the orchard"...
