Machining HDPE on Kelbrand Cam cnc router

HDPE cutting demo on a customer's standard series 800mm x 1200mm table.
This machine features our manual toolchanging system (MTCS).
The difficulty when manually changing tools is getting the material surface zero the same as the previous tool, since tool stick-outs vary in length.
MTCS is designed to work with normal automatic toolchanging post processors, all you have to do is generate multiple tools with the relevant post processor.
Once a new tool number in your g-code file is encountered by our machine controller, MTCS automates the tool changing and measuring process by :
Measuring the current tool
Moving the spindle to a tool change position
Measuring the newly inserted tool and calculating the difference in length
Automatically resuming job with the new tool while retaining the previous tool height

Hi, Aluminium on our standard series and machined steel gantry on our heavy series.

Would you ever develop a ATC for cnc's other than your own brand ? like a universal mach3/4 atc that came with some assembly required lol, your machines look amazing though :)

Hi, Thank you for the kind comment. We don't usually - we have retrofitted our ATC and control systems on milling machines(ZX45) in the past. Our early machines used mach 3 but we have since moved on.

You can achieve a surface finish that is as soft as silk and with minimal tool marks by: 1) using a cutting tool that has never been used to cut anything but plastic; and 2) using a light spray-mist of water-soluble cutting fluid or denatured alcohol.

Use a nesting software to get more part's from your stock. You literally wasted 85% of the stock material .

Hi, thank you for your feedback. We use and are OEM distributers of Vectric Aspire, which has excellent nesting capabilities but did not feel the need to use in this application since we have alot of HDPE sheet offcuts and prefer all the parts to be in the same orientation.
