a lot of our roads are terrible,a truck thats not extensivley tested will shake to bits in months,even the euros test here because of the conditions,i wish we had more peterbilts with 70" bunks,i might get to drive one!

The most important point Steve makes is application. The wheel base on this rig is way too long for most of the very strict length limits in Australia.Even with a single it's likely too long. For road trains it's the go!

I work at Volvo Trucks Australia and I still see a couple trucks every once in a while with Manual Transmission so the option is definitely still there. As for why people buy it over a Manual I believe it simply comes down to cost.

As the Mdrive is based on the Volvo Ishift, there is no doubt that it works very well, but it needs the controls to be taken off the dashboard and put onto the side of the drivers seat as in the Volvo or on a paddle on the steering column as the Fr8liner and Scania has. No matter how good automated transmissions are, they still need manual input and with the control on the dash the driver needs to momentarily take his eyes from the road to locates the panel, then reach out to touch it; not the safest thing to do, especially with two of three trailers following.

I have a question for anyone who's Australian and a truck driver how come you have your trailers so close to your cabs how do the trucks even turf and how come the tractors aren't longer wheelbase it's not like you don't have room in Australia also the reason why the Mack's drivetrain is so good is because it's a Volvo i-shift drove couple of those and that mp10 is just a D16 Volvo

Ok get mack to put the windscreen washer bottle on the outside to fill... shit radio keeps clearing stations . the 685 is bland on pulling in the hills with the mdrive.. that stupid rollback safety feature is permanently on unless you turn it off which is a pain in the ass on flat ground and forget to turn it off.... very poor dampening from the steering very hard riding in the front Axel... cruise control won't work if the engine brake switch is on vice versa taking off from stand still say from having a lunch break... couple of times the locker boxes in the rear of the cab has filled with rainwater... This is a 2 year old truck I am in 180000 kilometres on the clock Justin strange shit with these trucks... headlights on pre delivery were pointing at the sky instead of being a line to the road

To Tucktvaustralia I've always wanted to know what trucks can tow over 200t? I know the Mack Titian has a GCM of 250t or so but what about Scania, Volvo etc? Can a Scania R730 Euro 6 tow over 200 tonnes or a Man or a Volvo Euro 6? If anyone if in trucking could answer this it would be nice and thank you in advance.

able to pull any European manufactured over 250 tons!It must be ordered at the merchants!my normal 16 years old m.a.n f2000 19.414 if pull 60 metric tons!12 litres inline 6 diesel 410hp 1900nm torque.one drive axle.60 tons no problem.a colleague broke down.coupling demaged.my litle m.a.n. pull in off highway 117 tons without problem .

So you're saying any manufacture for example Scania, Volvo, MAN etc can tow over 200 tonnes but has to be ordered brand new? If so that makes sense as all new trucks have to be ordered also I wish I could question our ADF as to why they just bought Euro 4 MAN trucks and not at least Euro 5 or Euro 6. I thought they had to meed a emission reduction and thought all new trucks had to be Euro 5 minimum as of this year or last year.

magnum 440hp diesel is not renault made...this eng is e7 12 litres inline 6 mack edc engine...oldest volvo fh 16 litres eng maximum power 520hp..Cummins engines can therefore be assigned ..Australian and North American markets special! many buyers insist on the American eng! so you can choose the Cummins ISX engine!Volvo engine more powerful and more economical, but he is not out of the ordinary!is produced in the last 5-6 years, Cummins ISX engines are electronical too. mack truck I would prefer Cummins engine.even if today's mack essentially the Volvo product!

Les Ellis they might if in the US. But business as usual with the MP10 685 production in Australia. The Australians don't use US sourced Mack engines, they get them via Sweden. And pulling high horsepower high displacement engines from the Australian market when they are selling incredibly well won't happen.
