OLD SCHOOL: THE WARRIOR

Dear Reader
This story is about a bloke I ran across in Central Queensland. Jim Hair is one of the bush's gentlemen and a bush mechanic without par. His story is an example of a family business being built on one truck, Jim's R-Model Mack known as The Warrior. When finally the hard working engine saw its last sunset, Jim replaced it with a US Mack 500 hp tank engine, doing all the engineering to make it fit. This is Jim Hair's story, please enjoy.

My dad had a superliner,and carted cattle along side jimmy hair in the day,yep jims right back then truck drivers fixed there own gear,worked more hours then anyone today and did stop and help a mate out if they needed it,times have changed ,great doco👍 jim hasnt changed a bit in thirty years.

You can tell it’s an old video, partly by the tiny sleeper, would have to be from the 1980s wouldn’t it? I like the way he says no one stops for a talk or a coffee like in the old days, people are saying the exact same thing today years later! In fact they were saying the same thing when I started interstate in 1981! By the way, who doesn’t like a V8 Mack with an air start. Just about all our Superliners in Australia were like that, apparently in North America they were mainly 6 cylinders with electric start.

Yes, he mentioned the roads having been upgraded since floods in 2008. The tractor that loads him up with round hay bales is a more recent Case IH model too. His Superliner is an oldie though. It has the rectangular quad headlights of the mid-80s Superliner update.

Yeah missed that. Bit hard understanding the Queensland accent haha. I still stand by what I said about people talking about the good old days, I started interstate in 1981 and they were complaining about lack of camaraderie back then! But if you look at Facebook they were the best days!
