What is the name of the Metal Head track? @DSAUDIOreview

It's a youtube video and i'm listening over a different pair of speakers. but even so, the mackies sound boomy, the graphs also show a bump in the 70hz-160 hz zone, weren't they supposed to be neutral, aka studio monitors? At least the edifiers are geared towards consumers aka common listeners, not djs or producers. Considering their price of the mackies in italy as of now (140 euros), i'm not sure they're worth the extra 60 euros over the r1280t.

Could you do a test Edifier R1850DB vs S1000MKII, thank you.

This one is close... for me the Mackies sound slightly better across all the genres but there are two where the edifiers crap all over them. Too close to call.

If I were an engineer who only recorded metal bands using erg or very heavy distortion, the mackies might actually do in a pinch. They sounded great in that "metal head" example where the high end detail of the edifiers starts to sound pretty harsh. Plenty of air moving in the bass frequencies. In nearly every other example the edifiers seem to sound more natural, and in my case where I'll likely listen to old jazz and classical lps mostly, the edifier has less boom at the low end and more open detail in the high.. Thanks for the comparison!

I guess 1280T will be good for TV as it is having better mid & good for dialogues/vocals and just needed base which can be increased too by its base knob.

I this Edifier has not this hollow around 3,7 kHz .... there will be perfect.

The CR4-X sound oddly hollow to me, lacking body.

the Mackie's ......... 3 years ago I tried the CR4 and it was very boomy and zero options for the sound. I return them for Eris 4.5 and I like my Eris. Now I just tried the mr524 .... after two weeks I can tell that they sounds like a "high frequencies box" with not beautiful mids. My Eris has awesome mids. I tried to mix 3 of my tracks with them and go listen in my car ... the results was horrible, really. I have better results with my headphones lol ...... stop Mackie for me ..... If you have some question's tell me ;o)

You had CR4 or CR4-X? CR4 the old ones should be better than Eris E4.5 at least if it comes to clear and flat sound.

Edifier have bigger sound stage Mackie sound plastic boxy to mach basse the sound is too much hidden when it comes to sound quality and signature, in my opinion Edifier wins

x3 cost, x3 sound. No chance for Edifier here.
@PPRKUT884 жыл бұрын
It's not how it works lol x3 cost doesn't mean x3 sound, especially in this case, where the differences in sound is less than x2.
@lupuradu4 жыл бұрын
Not sure where you hear that x3 sound difference in the advantage of the mackies, i'm being objective here even if i DO own a pair of 1280t myself, but the mackies sound boomy as hell, i wouldn't enjoy that for normal listening, let alone for mixing or producing music.
