Еven though I'm heavily biased towards Rode, I have to admit that Mackie absolutely nailed it here. Can't wait to get my hands on this thing. Thanks for the nice video! :)

I REEEEEALLY appreciate your Very Authentic, unabridged video/usage of this. Especially the disappointing touch-screen i/o performance. Reminds me of the GoPro touch screen before they send out an update - hoping for a similar update from Mackie. I'm still trying to find someone who did a video of the usage of this highlighting the USB i/o and how Mix-Minus can be set up. LOVE THIS VIDEO. Thank You!

I'm impressed with the onboard +80db of gain, which is enough for an SM7b or an RE20. That's an important feature. I also like the visual compressor, gate, etc. Much more intuitive than sliders/numbers alone.

Is there an option to make the Recording light solid? Flashing is distracting and normally means that recording is paused.

great video. Thanks for the info. It seems like it's simply a more expensive clone of the Rodecaster Pro 2. I appreciate the run-through.

This device is huuuuuge! 😮 I see also it has a quite unrensponsive screen, but in general I'm impressed by the features, especially automix 😃 One problem - I have no enough space on my desk for this monster 🤥 I use RodeCaster I and this is the limit of the size...

When Mackie adds a voice pitch control into the FX, then I can fully replace the GoXLR. This mixer is very tempting, and I like it.

Thank you for this review. Can you tell me what’s the blue 360 background setup you have? Where you get it? Is this to soundproof the room? Does it destroy walls? I’m renting a place. Any other suggestions to get a home bedroom podcast started. Thanks.

Great piece of gear there! But I think they forgot one important thing : a line out just in case someone needs to route sound from the DLZ. Doing so would have transformed the DLZ into a budget digital radio studio mixer. I said the same thing about RCP2. Only Tascam put the line out on Mixcast 4.

I bought one of these at full price on release. Thought it would be a great upgrade from the Rodecaster Pro. Looks great and looked full of features. Reality, build quality for a mixer at a near £800 price point was terrible. It rocked on the desk and didn’t sit flush. The faders are really cheap plastic and not built for purpose. The touchscreen was very slow and unresponsive. The microphone processing sounds dreadful. (Neumann TLM 103 and U87) The sound pads are small and unresponsive and no onboard storage means you have to use an SD to store your sound files which is so fiddly. Mix minus on this is awful, I record into a professional online radio software and the levels were horrendous. I had massive high hopes when I first saw it, I want something a bit more substantial than a Rodecaster with all the features. Sadly this isn’t up to it and thankfully returned the next day. Maybe the DLZII will be much better. Please improve as I really think the vision is right.

I really want it, but the monitor mute not being on their is a big problem. Also it only outputs channel 13/14 I believe to USB and Teams doesn’t recognize those which is another issue. Hopefully Mackie can fix this in firmware.

I like the Mackie DLZ Creator. I like the user interface and Easy - Enhanced - Pro options. However I wish Enhanced mode had just a little more specific tweaking capability. It seems like just a hair more than Easy mode. DLZ Creator also supports audio over USB as an input as well as Bluetooth which is great. However, it only has 4 inputs with preamps...Mackie Onyx 80 preamps which came out 18 years ago in 2005...😬🤷‍♂️ More of a "mini mixer" than a true mixer. I'd like to see at least 10 combo jack inputs, all with better preamps. There's a rumor I heard that Mackie is working on a bigger, more expensive version of this but I have no idea of when it will come out or if true. Another new digital mixer that's a peg up from these is the new Yamaha DM3S ($1,699) and DM3D ($1,999). More inputs and supports up to 96kHz. However, I much prefer the UI of the DLZ Creator. Digital mixers have really come a long way. If I had to buy right now I'd probably get the Yamaha DM3S or DM3D but if Mackie makes a bigger, better version I'd lean in their favor.

When I first saw the thumbnail while not really paying attention I thought this was going to be about the Yamaha DM3. I guess that form factor is getting popular. However, I'm annoyed that the DLZ has an automix (which the DM3 lacks) for less than half the price.

They’re not output faders. They’re Input faders! Otherwise a good review. Also a good demonstration of how much better an RE20 sounds when you’re not right on top of it.

I've owned both current Rodecasters. As far as I can see, the ONLY feature the Mackie wins on is the size of the screen (I've never felt the Rodecaster's screen was too small while using it, however). For 100 bucks less... the Rodecaster 2 Pro meets or beats this in literally every feature.

The RCP II is a half baked lie. The eq sucks. Has no auto mix feature. Has fewer faders. Has a smaller screen. Has issues with the pads due to bad design engineering. Etc. I had it and had to return it after receiving 2 defective units.
@clayroe1631
@clayroe1631 Жыл бұрын
@@matatoto9805 I have Two Rodecaster Pro II's. I have not had any issues with the EQ. Yes, it DOES have "Auto Mix". They just call it what it is.... Ducking. I agree, the pads are less than reliable 100% of the time. I stand by my comments, however, that in my opinion it seems to be superior to the Mackie shown here. Just my two cents.
@matatoto9805
@matatoto9805 Жыл бұрын
@@clayroe1631 Yes, but the Ducking is only for Input XLR 1, and it affects the rest of the channels equally and you can’t adjust the threshold or intensity of the ducking, making it useless. And my pads came defective. Two of the 6 pads would activate themselves when I touch the RCP near them. Rode replaced me with a second unit and it came with the same fault. I returned it and saw on the internet it’s a very common issue.

@@clayroe1631 I agree... I have both units right now...and planning to return the DLZ - RCP II has more capabilities, You cannot live stream with your phone or iPad with DLZ but yes, you can do it with Rode. Also, Rode pads are Midi Controllers so their function to that is endless...navigation to the pad's pages is easy than DLZ which is a small ABCD at the bottom right corner, without mention that DLZ pads are very hard to press to activate, really, really bad. Well, I can do a long list of differences between these two bad boys .. DLZ is a great good looking copy of a Rode Caster but not there yet. at least they tried.

I'm new to this whole podcasting, recording thing. I wasn't aware of "You cannot live stream with your phone or iPad with DLZ". I just finally got a camera and DLZ to record to my laptop outside of the booth. Things are coming together. I tried a recording to PC with the phone playing music via USB. I could hear the music in my headphones, didn't come through on the camera. I have noticed that when I go into sound settings on the PC, when you go to select the mic, it doesn't just say DLZ, it breaks it down into each of the channels. So my option with mic, is DLZ 1/2.... but the BT phone input on DLZ is on 9/10. A single output from the DLZ as an input source would be great.... perhaps it has it, I just haven't figured it out yet.
