Will need some info from japan aswell ... i am reconditioning a 89 Vmax which has been in storage for 15 years .... Everything is stock and everything works ... The carburetor vacuum diaphragms got damaged due to prolonged non usage so waiting to receive new ones from Ebay

Dude, I LOVE your video. However @ 9:30, it did appear that you only added enough coolant into the reservoir, to fill it to #2 or LOW level. Other than that, I now feel much more comfortable changing the coolant on my, new to me, '06 VMAX, because of this great step by step tutorial. My coolant drain valve is leaking, but that's just an O-ring and easy fix once you drain the coolant.

I guess a valve check (shim under bucket, but at least they usually stay in tolerance for quite a long time) and cam chain slack/guide inspection is eventually planned for 'ol Max as well?

You didn't drain the cylinder jackets - step No 6 on your instructions. You only removed the cover plates. Under the cover plate is a rubber plug (on bottom edge) that has to be removed (use the cap end screw end of a spark plug & the spark plug as a handle) & drain the cylinder jackets.

You left a lot of old Coolant by not pulling the runner plugs. Easy to do... Flush more than once using distilled water.

I did act, just didn't capture this on video for some reason. Manu8says to use spark plugs to remove the caps...clever.

Hey, you dide t show the rubber plugs, i changed my coolant accactly like you , but dont find the rubber plugs, after the DONE stepps i started the engine and smoke comming, is it a denger ? How i can fix it ? And where is the rubber plugs ? Witch side of bike and where ? Anyone can help ?

I think there are four of them hiden behind little plates on the engine. Manual tells you exactly where they are and how to remove them. Smoke can be from coolant/water on the engie evaporating...but do check it, as I am no expert and this video is only a rough guide. I am no qualified to advice any further ;)

MackieBass yes i think also smoke is from coolant, i dont have a the manual. I finded pdf manual for vmax on internet, but dont undrestand where thas plugs was. I can try little bit more, but thanx for answer :D

Very good info what kind of coolant did you use 50/50 mix 60/40 mix and what brand is best

I used ready mixed coolant for bikes. Can't remember the brand, I think it was putoline, but not sure.

@@MackieBass I recently drained my fluid in Mr. Max and in the manual it says to line the ON mark with the match mark on drain valve housing.Is that round hole on the top of housing the match mark?
