One your contributers is correct. Transfer leaf followed by loose leaf should any repairs be required. Good video. On steel 12 hour gold size won't be ready for 40 plus hours.the extended working time available with 12 as apposed to say 3 hour size can be an advantage. Check out Ruth tapping, guilder.

Something that I’ve picked up off one of the Pro’s (sure it was Mr Kafka, could be wrong) was how to avoid having lines where the gold was over laid. Not an issue if being turned though with other work sometimes a straight line can be seen where leaves have been over lapped, especially on glass or mirrors. To avoid any lines any over lapping edge was made ragged so the join is far less obvious to see. Ever since being shown it’s something my eyes always look for and surprisingly very few folks do it as it does work. Long post sorry, just thought I’d share. Time for a 🍺 or 🍻

I agree but its also about how much time can you honestly charge for when only 20% of humans can see shit like that! crazy right, Its hard to imagine what our magic looks like to them! its something like 70% of people cant see the difference between 400 and 500 grit final color sand and only a handful can tell 500 from 600. thats wy stripes are fun, its a mind fuck that peoples eyes naturally follow lines away from what they are trying to focus on... Bob Ross smears random colors with a knife and we all some how see this detailed scene, or am i rambling on to distract myself from cleaning the new shop

Hi mate a tip for the future, You may find it easier to use transfer gold leaf with size, I would only use loose leaf with water size (water & gelatin) for reverse sign writing on glass Loving your airbrushing work 👍🏻

david reaney thanks David. I didn't even think about that option. thanks for your suggestion, something I will definitely look into. and thanks for your kind words. best wishes.

Fab as usual. When I was an apprentice we used to do a lot of gold leaf I all ways use makeup brushes to smooth off we got one that the feral slides down the bristles because they are cheap and last for ever also with it covering the brush it keeps clean then smooth out with cotton wool don't no if this might help ? Anyway thanks again for a great video can't wait for the next one cheers mackie 👴🏻🔨🥃🥃♿️

I had to thumbs down because of the flag. I do live in the south and I appreciate our heritage, but, that war is over. I fought it over a lot of years and the only one that got hurt by it was me. I’m 77 now and tired of fighting losing battles. Good vlog, great instruction, thanks for sharing the knowledge.

Did mean no offence. I'm a skynyrd fan..hence the flag. Glad you like the video.

@@MackieBass lmao, I have some shitty ones from back in the day only for opening paint, actually made here, back when the cost of shipping weighed against the cheaper product, (as well I have SK screwdrivers made in France that are at least as goot if not better than snapon, but back in the day shipping made it unafordable...) when I was a dealer mechanic it took a 25$ driver to not ruin hardware, people flip out about that shit lmao,
