North Dockstarter | Your Shortcut to Quick and Easy Dock Starting

In this video, Tucker from MACkite introduces the North Dockstarter, a new product designed to simplify the dock start process for foiling. The Dockstarter is an inflatable launching device that holds the foil board above the water, with the foil submerged. This innovative tool allows riders to run up, jump on the board, and glide smoothly without needing a perfect dock setup or a helper to hold the board. Constructed from inflatable paddle board materials, the Dockstarter is lightweight, easy to deploy, and provides a safe method for launching, offering a buffer between the board and any hard surfaces.
Setting up the Dockstarter is simple: inflate it using a standard kiteboard or electric pump, fold it into shape, and adjust the straps to secure it to the dock, boat deck, or other launching surfaces. Riders can then adjust the velcro straps to ensure the board is positioned at the right angle, ideally level or slightly nose-down, for a successful start. The Dockstarter significantly reduces the difficulty associated with traditional dock starting, allowing riders to focus on refining skills such as running speed, foot placement, and gliding. It also enhances safety by letting riders launch off the end of the dock, avoiding obstacles like pillars and railings. Its inflatable structure provides cushioning in case of a fall, minimizing the risk of injury. Additionally, it protects the foil and board from potential damage during the launch, making it a cost-effective investment.
The North Dockstarter is versatile and suitable for various settings, whether it's a dock, boat deck, or rocky shore. It doesn’t always need to be strapped down; simply positioning it can be sufficient. The Dockstarter is easy to transport, folding into a compact size when deflated, and can even serve as a pad for the board when stored in a car. Tucker shares that the MACkite team had a positive experience using the Dockstarter, with riders achieving consistent success in as few as 10 to 20 tries. This starkly contrasts traditional methods, which often take hours and numerous attempts to master. By making the process easier and safer, the Dockstarter allows more people to enjoy the sport of dock starting and pump foiling.
