If you watch the recital video, Maddie was being quiet on purpose because she knew that Abby wanted her to do a solo to take over Paige’s spot (which I agree with Paige for pulling the number because it was obvious sabotage), and when Kelly noticed that Abby was trying to guilt Maddie into accepting the solo, she tried to stand up for her kids and Maddie, and Abby rudely responded by breaking the fourth wall.

Ray Ray nobody really lost the lawsuit. The Hylands pretty much got what they wanted. The thing is, they COULDN’T LEAVE as much as they wanted to because of the contract. If the Hylands didn’t sue the show, they still would have had to been filming and dancing for the rest of season 4 even after the fight, which is what the producers wanted to do. And the lawsuit against Abby ended up revealing that she hid money anyways, which lead to her being indicted.

I would be interested in that too. Kelly has said that when Brooke was younger she was the favourite before Maddie and that the amount of pressure etc that Abby was putting on Maddie she does with all of the favourites and burns them out. That is why Brooke seemed so so about dancing. That and that the producers had decided that that was Brooke's story so if she was smiling during pyramid etc they just wouldn't show it.

The show tried to show Kelly as getting upset because Maddie got an opportunity that was Paige, even though she was actually standing up for Maddie and Paige because they both were being set up to look good and bad respectively for the show. They weren’t even going to be in the recital, as they were going to Kennywood for school, so it was all done just to embarrass Kelly’s kids.

Pretty sure she helped Abby smuggle money, so I would say most likely she is even shadier than they made her out to be. Also pretty suspicious that she allows Maddie to have such unhealthy relationships with older women, and that Maddie seeks them out in the first place. That's always a strong indicator that a child lacks a healthy mother figure.

After Kelly and Christy were finally gone they were trying to get a reality TV show made. Paige could have made something for herself if Kelly would have listened to Abby. She let her kids become nothing like it was a punishment to Abby. Look at Chloe Madde Mackenzie and ofc JoJo! Jojo is a superstar. Paige had a good personality. She could have become something.

Well she really still shouldn't. - then another where Brady said the mothers just need to have a drink and relax or something like that. No child should be exposed to how much their parents & other adults drink, unless they're in danger due to it. They also shouldn't have anything to equate it with, like calming down or chilling out, stop butting in or whatever he precisely said.

I've been to Good Morning America's concert series and we were instructed like that to cheer so it's just easier for people (and us) to know when the band is coming on or something exciting is about to happen

I used to watch the ‘Dance Moms’ series with my girls when they were little (they loved it) and while I enjoyed watching the girls dance, the “momma drama” always pulled me in being that I was a bit older, of course (even though it did get ridiculous and would be over-the-top at times). Honestly, a lot of cast members have said that they saw themselves more as "characters" that they were portraying other than just being themselves, such as Cathy and Yolanda. So if that's the case, I actaully don't mind everything being staged because that means that they're basically actors portraying a role . . . However that's not how Dance Moms is marketed! They aren't supposed to be characters, this is supposed to be a reality show following the real life events of REAL PEOPLE! If it wasn't for your series (and some cast members speaking out) I would've probably gone my whole life believing that's actaully what these people are like . . . Like I said: I don't mind the idea of them being more so actors than reality tv stars, but be real with us on that! I find it sickening that people like the producers get to sleep at night, knowing they misrepresented someone on international television. These are actaul people, with actual feelings. If they didn't feel that the show would be interesting enough and generate enough views without being so edited, then they should've let it end a long time ago.

its honestly sad how much pressure was put on maddie. abby was ofc giving her a lot of opportunities but when you look at it, she was probably extremely exhausted from having to travel to other gigs and go to a competition the next day somewhere else. and i can bet having others discredit her for being a favorite wasn't a great experience either. i remember feeling so incredibly sorry for her while watching the show. you could tell that in certain times she just wanted to rest.

I have a few ideas for episodes. I was recently watching season 1 and in the recital episode (I believe s1 ep5) where a talent agent comes and has the girls “audition” in front of him. I would really like to see an uncovered episode going into if Abby and the agent had a history especially since he took an interest in Maddie which obviously went along with the Maddie and Chloe rivalry. I hope you consider doing an episode of that. 💛💛

I was a competitive dance all brought it high school and I have competed against studio 19. Although the dancers do come across a bit stuck up and do not follow dance competition courtesy, I have met Tammy and Katie and as far as I could tell they were sweet as anything. We need to remember that this is a TV show and there is no need to attack the parents are kids from any side, more than half of the time we do not see the full story anyways.

The moms seem to think it was fixed because they originally wanted a blonde, and I found something online saying the show was produced by Lifetime so it could be fixed.
