I already updated my MBP 15‘ mid 2015 and IMac 27‘ end 2015 flawlessly. No issues all. I was not very keen to take this update because there was nothing major in for me. Hi Jessie: I had previously installed Sonoma on my Mac Pro 2010, dual processor, 128 gb ram with an Nvidia GeForce 680 2 mb with great success, so I did the regular "click" to upgrade and OCLP worked perfectly, detecting that I was upgrading and loading the KDK package. It took a while (about 35 minutes), but I've got 14.3 running and everything (including maps, wifi, ethernet, etc.) works perfectly. Thanks for all these detailed explanations, and I think you can include the Cheesegrater Mac Pro 2010 in your recommended list as long as there is a metal-capable graphics card that supports the boot-loader. Thanks again, you are an invaluable resource and are greatly appreciated!

I updated my 2012 MBP which was running Sonoma 14.0, by clicking on sys update. I had been experiencing some kernel panics occasionally, as well as bleeding or flashing background colours usually after running the MBP for some time. I also had a very irregular ability to use universal control to share mouse and keyboard with my second MBP. The update to 14.3 went fine, I did get the root patcher requirement pop up and after reboot everything seemed fine. I thought maybe touch slower, but I think it was some background indexing going on, I feels as ok my other MBP running Monterey, which is solid and problem free. To my pleasant surprise the screen bleed/flashing has disappeared for now; there have been no kernel panics and universal control mouse and keyboard sharing seem to connect automatically all the time. I was hoping the update would fix this and I am pleased it looks like it did! Thanks Jesse and good luck in your new venture in the USA.

@@GBB971 I simply updated Sonoma 14.0 to 14.3 and the issues went away. I had OCLP 1.3 installed already, so I simply used System Notifications to run the update to 14.3

Hi Jessie, I followed your recommendation and first installed the KDK for Sonoma 14.3 on my IMac 27" 5K 2017 and then started the update in the system settings. However, the system did not load the update with 1.89 GB, but the complete package with over 13GB. As a result, the update took much longer. It was then necessary to reinstall the WLAN via the OCLP root patch. It didn't work the first time, but it did work the second time. Everything seems to be going smoothly. Your welcome. Yes, with unsupported Macs it always downloads the whole installer as the incremental update feature doesn’t work. And every update breaks the root patch, so you have to install it again afterwards

But everything is cured by simply turning off and on, then everything starts up and do the patch via open core. All good update!

Thanks again for this very useful video, Jessie. Today I tried to install Sonoma 14.5 with OCLP 1.5 on my Mac Pro 5,1. I have a Radeon RX 580 without bootscreen in slot 1, an Accelsior PCI NVME SSD in slot 3 and an USB 3.0 card in slot 4. I removed all the hard drives after erasing the nvme SSD and zapped the PRAM so that the computer booted from the usb stick with the installer (your advice in another video). Everything seemed to go well and after an hour Sonoma started up. But after migrating from a backup disk (from Monterey) it went wrong. The Mac got a bootloop and restarted always after 10-15 seconds. Even in the safe mode. I am desperate. What can caused the bootloop? Perhaps a printer driver from Monterey that isn't compatible with Sonoma? Since I used an USB stick the KDK Kit for macOS 14.5 (23F79 was automaticly applied when I watch your video. I do need my USB card. If this causes the bootloop, I stay with Monterey. Any help is much appreciated. Kind regards.

@@JessiesFlying Thanks for your advice. I finally succeeded in installing Sonoma on my Mac Pro 5,1. However Sonoma, even with OCLP 1.5 has issues. With 3D-applications e.g. there are problems with graphics performance (glitches) and the Mac is not stable. Cinebench OSX and R15 don't run in Sonoma, they did in Monterey. The computer also boots slower and there are problems with the Wifi connection even after I forgot the network. Apps that require AVX/AVX2 have problems. I returned to Monterey. But I'll continue to watch your videos. Have a nice weekend.

I have a 2013 Imac 21.5" and just updated from Sonoma 14.2.1 to 14.3 using OCLP 1.3.0 and a USB installer. This Imac does NOT have a AMD graphics card. It uses an Intel Iris 590, but the OCLP did download KDK 14.3. Any idea why?

My iMac late 2015 have that problem as serious in updating 14.2.1 and 14.1. I have to trouble shoot about 45 minutes for each update previously. Do you recommend updating to 14.3 in iMac 2015 ? @@JessiesFlying apparently, YES. before the update to 14,3 Legacy patcher has dowloaded (as usual) preventively the KDK Package, All as usual. But after the update all is become a nightmare. This is the second time I encounter problems: the same issue happened with the update of of an OCLP but after another update of OCLP all is returned normal. The flickerimg has happened randomly in the last YEAR I don't understand.

Hello Jessie my wife updated to the 14.3.1 root patch and when we restarted we keep getting stuck at the apple load screen with 25% bar only. Tried to clear nvram and go into recovery but the recovery just has a black screen and will not load recovery so im unable to restore. Also I get an apple error message saying that there was a boot issue and press any key to continue and nothing happens. I need help please and thank you

In stead of putting the installer on a usb-stick you can put it on a small partition (16 Gb) on your harddisk/ssd. I did so but the update got stuck, but like with the 14.1 update problem, I got it solved by booting into safe mode (hold shift key pressed while choosing the boot drive), seeing that 14.3 has been installed, opening the Open Core Legacy Patcher app, revert root patches, reboot and then installing the root patches again. Problem gone !

Issue (for me at least): mDP on MBP 15 mid 2014; this does not initialise till boot up has completed, such that there’re is a blank screen till the point the login password appears. Not the case with HDMI. This makes any boot option non visible. Could you try this on your 2015 MBP test Mac?

I did a fresh install of Sonoma 14.3 from USB with Open Core Legacy Patcher and I've only updated Camera Raw files through System Settings. After the first restart, on the user login home screen, it locks and turns the image off and on and the keyboard and trackpad do not work. It won't let me enter my password. I start in safe mode and it allows me to log in normally. I have a video where I can attach it to share it.?

That’s weird, do you have a USB keyboard for testing by any chance?

@@JessiesFlying yes I tested with an external keyboard but it's the same, in addition to the keyboard the image flickers so not usable, I came back to ventura then I downloaded sonoma 14.1 and installed normally it works perfectly. but I don't think I'll test version 14.3 for fear of still having the same problems. If it’s a chipset that was supported officially later on it should. Try NVRAM reset if it doesn’t work after install

KDK install is only needed for root patch somit doesn’t matter which is installed as long as you don’t apply root patch

Hi Jessie. My Mac (15 pro mid with two grafic card intel/amd) stoped after updated from usb on login screen. I can’t write password, because the indicator starts spin. After a while screen goes to black for a second and back to login screen. And so on, like some kind of looping? Did you met that situation? I can’t find any solutions. Small update: I can run system in safe mode. OCLP installed all patches during installed system. Installed Sonoma 14.3, OCLP 1.3.0. Update: I think something is with graphics. When I try generate preview f.e. pic or pdf file, the system hang on for a while and don’t generate it.

I habe patched 2 Imacs (late 2012 andlate 2015) with oclp 1.3.0 both working fine on Sonoma, but as I want tu use both machines with only one set of mouse and keyboard without an external app like barrier, I am missing the Universal Control button in the display section on both machines, though it should be there, already ask on discord regarding this matter, no response so far, could it be a bug in the patch, which is unrecovered until now?

Never heard of that, but OpenCore basically doesn’t remove features of macOS. Are you sure it’s still there in Sonoma with supported Macs? Maybe there’s a Bluetooth limitation die to the old Bluetooth chipset?

I updated Sonoma to .2 and now .3 using Apple software update without any issues. However, after every update I had to run the root patch installer in order to get my late 2013 15” MBP to run smoothly. Is this a normal?

i have the 2009 mac pro with a rx580 gpu. i have try open core 1.4.3 to install sonoma both from usb and updated through monterey. both ways put my mac into a boot loop. tried going into safemode. it would not let me. but when i put in the stock mac video card it installs fine. any ideas on how to fix my problem. my rx580 is the sapphire nitro+.

Install it with stock, without root patches, then swap GPU, do NVRAM reset and then install root patches
