Thank you, Irene! I feel the same way when I see them, especially water drops on webs remind me of jewels. One of the photos here (the one with bokeh balls in the background) had an unexpected lens flare/sparkle in it that made me smile, so fun!

Thank you! I rarely photograph pansies because they are so common in gardens here, but they are so cheerful looking and it was nice to look at them closely for a while :)

I very much enjoy your videos! Beautiful images and with peaceful, informative narration. I'm particularly interested in the possibilities with iPhone photography. I sold off all my DSLR equipment 3 years ago and have been shooting entirely with a series of iPhones from the XS to the 12 Pro. Your videos have inspired me to consider adding a macro lens later this year.

Dear Liesl, you are a big inspiration. I love your work and the simplicity of it. Do you print your photographs? We would like to see some prints if you already have them. Take care.
@LieslHuddleston3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I don't have any prints right now, but actually I've been thinking about making a video on printing photos that were taken on my phone. I had one printed very large on canvas a couple of years ago as a gift and it turned out beautifully. I just need to make enquiries some time to find out if the print shop I used is still in business after the pandemic.

Love the water drops and especially the colours. I'm surprised the phone photos look so good on my 65" OLED TV. Makes you wonder why we even bother to pursue professional gear.
@LieslHuddleston3 жыл бұрын
That's good to know, Alex! I'm planning on making a video sometime in the future about printing phone photos, so we can see the quality of large professional prints. I think each sets of gear have their place, the phone can fill in for certain kinds of photos that you just can't quite duplicate with a big camera. I think it mostly has to do with placement of the lens, I can get to parts of a flower while it is in its natural habitat far easier with my phone than I can with a big camera.

Very beautiful video and photos! What phone and camera do use? New subscriber!
@LieslHuddleston3 жыл бұрын
Hi Marvin :) I use an iPhone XS Max, but I will say it is not the best phone camera I've ever used. I will just continue to use it though till I need to upgrade my phone (which might be years from now, I'm not sure) with it I add a little macro lens, either a Moment macro or Olloclip macro, but Olloclip no longer makes theirs, they shut down due to the pandemic. You can see more information in the description under the video :) Thanks for subscribing, I hope you'll enjoy many more videos.

Hi Liesl, beautiful shots as always, do you use tripod for your photographs or do you always practice handheld ? for me, shallow depth of field when performing macro is always a challenge to stay steady ;-)
@LieslHuddleston3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Always handheld, I've probably used my tripod about 5 times since I got it years ago and it's usually for video or for filming my camera settings 😄 Yes, it is difficult especially with the shallow depth of field, I miss a lot of shots if I have been out of practice, but if I go out often it gets better. It feels like it is always a combination of these things ~> good lighting, good subject, being in a good mood, practice, patience, and luck! :D

With the macro lens attached to the phone, do you leave the ph camera set to its maximum resolution? My samsung does have an inbuilt macro lens but it is only 1200 x 800 mp.
@LieslHuddleston2 жыл бұрын
Hi Arthur, sorry for the late reply. Yes, I don't change any camera settings, I don't zoom in or use the macro feature, just the lens. My new phone now also has built in macro and I have not used any outside lenses with it yet.
