Prinzesa is at the same time a harsh and poetic song. Like many songs by De André. Prinzesa is a transsexual that moves from Brazil to Italy and goes through dramatic events, sorrow and pain. De Andrè has the rare talent to mix poetry and hell, elevated words and raw thoughts. He has been One of the best lyric writer in Italy. He wrote songs inspired by 'Spoon river' the American collection of poems and those songs are MASTERPIECE, pure poetry. For example a great song is 'Un giudice'. I'm sure you would appreciate it. In the 60s his songs were scandalous and censored for the bad language and the themes. But, obviously, young people loved him, because he was a rebel. He passed away, more than 20 years ago. Thank you Angelo, always enjoying your comments on Italian music.😘

I would venture, without fear of denial, that De André is one of the greatest poets in the history of world music, not only in Italy. And I am grateful that this channel is spreading its music to a non-Italian audience.

@davidedavidi11913 жыл бұрын

I'll try to sum up the wiki page of the song: Princesa was a real person. A trans woman from Brasil. She was a prostitute and she was incarcerated in Rome for assaulting a woman that was taking advantage of her. In jail she met a few inmates that convinced her to write her story which was translated in a few languages. So De André and Ivano Fossati (one of the best italian authors) along with Iannelli that helped her writing her book and is credited as a co-writer were inspired to write this song. Unfortunately she killed herself in 2000 but there are a few documentaries about her story.

This song is part of De Andrè's latest album, "Anime Salve", perhaps the most beautiful of the Italian singer-songwriter. It talks about a Brazilian transsexual who, after having undergone surgery to become a woman, comes to Italy, to Milan, and becomes a prostitute, until she meets a lawyer who marries her. The final part of the song is in Brazilian. The musician who plays the accordion is the American Mark Harris. He is very good and if you search on the Internet you can find information about him. Another beautiful song from the same album is "Disamistade" which in Sardinian dialect means Enmity. It talks about a feud between two families that causes deaths for both parties involved. credo sia il contrario, la ricerca quasi "maniacale" dei suoni delle regioni fatta da De Andrè Dylan non c'è mai arrivato.

He said "incanto" not cunt; incanto means enchantment, spell, magic. The song, is about a Brazilian transgender and follows him/her troughout his life. It talks about how he did not identified as a boy and the struggle with the family acceptance, the surgery, the move to another continent, prostitution, secret love. The last part of the song ( in portugues) kind of resume Princesa's life. De Andrè was a poet; he knew how to express human feelings and dramas in a way that very few people can.
