This song is anthropology and oriental meditation. It is about Gurdjieff and his dances that involved the whole body in complex movements designed to control and relax in order to achieve enlightenment. As with 'The Cure', the meaning is almost always esoteric in Battiato's songs.

I saw Franco Battiato at the theater in a memorable concert; his voice, his speeches, his music, his charisma; all together created a magical atmosphere. Unforgettable.
@blissdelpopolo63222 жыл бұрын
did so as well when i was about 11/12 (now im 25) , a theatre as well, twas one of the times he played with the orchestra of our city; had the luck to shuffle thro some crowd, shake his hand , tell him how much his music meant to me and even get an autograph(total luck because with all the peeps wanting to say hi he had a low chance to sign up stuff in that occasion, literally the whole theatre wanted to say hi as soon as he sat to listen to the final asset of the concert, which was some symphonic music; and he was nice and collected about it); then saw him again in a square concert(he loved those) when i was like 18 or 19. I m also pretty sure it was one of the last times he made a concert, right before he got very sick; so i lucked out again on it. 11/12 was also the same time frame in which my school orchestra got us to sing a couple of times with roberto vecchioni in full blown concerts.

I usually don’t like those “reaction” video that seems so staged but you are different, you are genuine. Also, I’m ashamed to say this as I’m Italian but you made me rediscover Battiato, now I’m obsessed with him, thank you!

The infinite joy of music: I, an Italian, who at this moment am in the Azores islands to escape from a homeland that I no longer like, and you, an American, who reminds me of the lost beauty of what I loved and what I owe try not to forget. Thank you. 🙂 Your beloved grandmother can be proud of you. You are doing a good job.

Franco came from another planet, really. In 1982 in Italy, no one would even spoken about anklets, Orient, Balinese dancers in a pop song: only Franco could do it! PS: please react to his early music, I suggest the wonderful Propriedad prohibida (1974) or Areknames (1972) with words backwards.

Hi! Rudi here. Thank you for doing this. The link I provided was the original video but this one is ok too, i was just afraid that on another video other than the original the viennese walzer at the end got lost but luckly that wasn't the case. Maybe one thing would have been worth watching was the "introduction" at the beginning. And of course Battiato's dance!

'Bandiera bianca' or 'Cuccuruccucú'? Or maybe 'Gli uccelli'? I don't know!! I just know that it is One of the best Italian records of all times. Maybe the best. I love Battiato!😍 Thanks Angelo!!!!!

What not much people know, it's that battiato was a great spiritual student, and when he found goudjieff, he descovered the 4rd way, and applicate in all his life, and he put those message in ALL his discografy, and people today sing of ancient secret about PRECENCE, but he dont know ABOUT IT, when they sing battiato songs
@tomorrowmely3624 Жыл бұрын
The song is not necessarily a romantic song, it's actually much more that that: there's some kind of higher purpose. This was the case of practically all of his songs. There's a philosophical intent. Here, he's singing about the universal aspect of dance that reunites people and sometimes becomes a spiritual moment.

Franco is actually called Francesco, but they decided to present him as Franco in his first TV appearance, to better distinguish him from Francesco Guccini who also appeared on TV for the first time in the same show. If you want to listen to someheavy Franco Battiato go get a listen on "gommalacca", produced by Madasky, one of the craziest musician in Italy during 90's. I suggest you "shocking in my town", my favourite song from Battiato. A small amount of his story, he started in the 70' doing wild experimental electronic music,then in the 80's he transpose those experiments in pop music destroing chart with almost every song. Some songs from the 80's are still played and remixed and he had an ENORMOUS impact on musical culture in Italy. That's why we call him ''IL MAESTRO'' and we really miss him.

@davidefuochetti10632 жыл бұрын
@mafaldarusso64412 жыл бұрын
@@davidefuochetti1063 no, no.... io non li incolpo, anzi!
