I am so happy I found your channel! I grew up in Waukesha WI and had many friends who went to college in Madison! I spent many weekends there when I was visiting friends and we would hang out! I love all of your videos. You have a very calm voice and I love that you don't slap paint on everything that you come across just because you can! This video was awesome because it so reminded me of my grandparents. I swear to you I could smell my grandma getting ready to go into town when I saw some of the pieces. I could hear my grandpa's laugh and remember dancing with him (standing on his toes) when I saw the stereo cabinet! Thank you for this! You warmed my heart! ♥️

Great video. I loved the vintage $238 buffet, the small inlaid wooden table, and the barrister's bookcases. I'm 61. Back in the 1960s, my father bought a stereo "hi-fi." When he had a stroke in the 1990s, I threw it out as a hunk of junk. I should have kept it based on the price I saw for one in this video.😊

Barry, imagine my surprise to see your video at the Columbus Antique Mall! My husband and I have three booths and a glass case display on the first floor. We sell vintage smalls, books and collectibles. There are ramps and a manual elevator there for easy access to all three floors for shopping. Currently, the booths are filled to the brim with vintage Christmas and holiday items. Please come and make a day of it! TFS.

5:50 this is very true. When I visited a local thrift store I found things I absolutely loved. Nobody else wanted them I even saw that the things I ended up buying had sat for months and one had sat in that thrift store for over a year before I came across it. I had saw a post they had made from a year ago showing my dream dresser. When I went there a month ago I anticipated it being long gone but the joy I had when I saw it still there was so high. I made a deal and brought it home that day. And I found two 1800s parlor chairs at another thrift store in the exact same style as the dresser for only $7. It’s a style I adore and want to decorate my spaces with. Each time I see pieces in that style I get all excited and have to hold myself back from buying it all. I have such a weak spot for Eastlake furniture and hardware and antique art statues. I also love 1920s bridge lamps. Im working on piecing one back together right now. I like going to places like this so I may have to take a trip out there. 16:32 this is very similar to my dresser. It’s how mine will look when done.

What a fun tour! Aside from that wonderful Hoosier cabinet, the one piece that would probably have gone home with me was a very simple looking rocking chair at the 4:55 mark. Nothing fancy, it just seems sturdy, well-built, comfortable, and with the quiet dignity of a well-designed piece. If that seat is vinyl, it would have to be replaced, but otherwise, it has an "old friend" quality that really appeals to me. Thanks for sharing this with us, and I'm looking forward to more little excursions like this in the future.

I lived in Columbus for almost 10 years and visited this antique mall often. The one piece of advice I always gave to people was this: start as far up & away from the entrance as possible for two reasons. The first is a matter of real estate: the same item will be less expensive at a booth further from the door, because the cost for the booth itself is less (statistically, those nearest the door get the most attention/traffic) but number two, and I always stressed this one as most important: after a while, you will reach your visual input capacity. This mall is HUGE and there is JUST. SO. MUCH. STUFF. If when this happens, you start to panic or feel anxious (and a good portion of people experience this, at least just a little) the closer you are to the exit, the better! Then I'd smile a reassuring smile, and tell them "start on the third floor with the furniture".

Absolutely correct.. speaking from experience in this mall. I have been going there for 35 years. So. Much. Stuff. :)

I live outside Ripon and am considering a visit next time I'm down toward Madison. I use a similar strategy most of the time, but I'm definitely keeping your advice in mind! It's so hard to find good places for furniture that aren't hideously overpriced. This one looks like a gem!

Yes that is true. I did that at the flea market as well and other places like such.

Todo muy lindo pero prefiero los cachivaches destruidos y apolillados que vos conseguis por 20 dollars y luego los dejas como de 10^10. Preciosos!

I spied it! @12.16 - I am on the search for an antique sled to put on my front porch with a wreath. I have already re-routed my drive from Chicago to Wausau for the holidays. This was so much fun...TY Barry!!!
