Great interview! I don't bet very often these days (I was one of the first telephone tipsters in 1976) but sometimes if my opinion concurs with Tom's I'll have a few quid on if it's a good price. Yes I can says I've had a few good touches thanks to Tom!

Tom Seagal says having a bet is a bit of fun, have a tenner on, a few beers with your mates, and ruby after. The people who subscribe to the racing post paying £34 per month I suppose that is a bit of a laugh. These tipsters never criticise the bookies who bring in account restrictions on winners while raking in the money from the losers. Why is that because all these tipsters, presenters, and pundits are in the bookie's pocket? Every video on horse racing by the racing post is sponsored by bookies. They should be independent of the Bookies, the same goes for jockeys and trainers who become an ambassador for a bookie.
@jameshart69082 жыл бұрын
Its obviously part of his job to not criticise bookies thats pretty obvious. They wouldn’t make anywhere near enough money if they went independent

I met Tom at a Cheltenham preview night in Adare, County Limerick several years ago. Tremendous guy, I told him I love his column in the post and it's the first page I go to every Saturday. Even got a Racing Post Cheltenham Guide signed by the great man.

A great outlook and good advice. For Cheltenham, beyond ground and trip I always look for horses laid out for the meeting these days. There are plenty who run 3 or less times who are targeted at particular races, their form may not scream out but invariably you look back and say; "I should have spotted that". Of course festival form is a key pointer too. I'm sure Tom would also agree that it's 4 days, 28 races, you don't have to bet in every one.

I don't follow Tom Segal (some crazy figures, being quoted, in the comments. If he was that good, the bookies would be out of business!), but he seems like a really decent bloke

Went to the Stewards Cup @ Goodwood about a decade ago thinking I'd found the winner... Jonathan Woodgate's horse Jonny Mudball. Came second, chinned by Segal's choice that day Evens and Odds. Managed to win the placepot that day but missed out on that 20/1 winner alas...

As a problem gambler I wish these checks had been put in place before I lost my wife,family and home. To hear a tipster admit he is told by bookies as to which race he's to tip on? Doesn't seem right to me. Does Tom receive money from these bookies as a tipster?

Gordon Eliott has me sweating I like everyone is wants Ginto to go to the Albert but he's siding more to the BallyMore a Race he hasn't got a hope of winning as rather Sir Gerhard or Dynamo Dysart will be there Walking on Air Three Stripes life He struggle to get placed Three stripes I back him ew 16/1 Albert Bartlett Ginto he wins Can't have Minella Crooner or Minella Corooner Hollow games Only one is Bardenstown Lad It's a non brainer decision Gordon (Train your Brain)☺️🙂
