I’ve been riding Japanese bikes (mostly Honda) for forty years and apart from punctures I’ve never been left stranded. I’m happy with that and can’t see any benefit to swapping to a Chinese bike manufacturer. Having said that if you can’t afford a Honda you’ve got a lot of choice these days 🙂✌🏻

I would rather pick a 20 year old decent honda than any brand new Japanese bike :D

When i got back into biking, i bought Lexmoto, UM, and Keeway all fine when new, but Varying quality and reliability later on. Parts are not always available, and resale value is terrible. Now have MT09 but Rarely use it. Instead, I prefer my Monkey and CT125 for messing around on country roads at weekends. They all just work. Parts easily available. Service intervals far wider and resale value holds up really well.Chinese bikes are improving. But slowly. It only took the Japanese 10 years to take the market. Chinese bikes been around for 20 years plus and still way off.

50 years in the motorcycle industry tip here. Would I buy 1? No, bikes are dangerous enough without the poor quality issues

@onenoodles where do I start? Every other bike manufacturer develops their bikes to be the best they can be, Chinese bikes are mostly rip off copies built from poor steel just designed to take your cash,I won't name individual manufactures due to recourse so easier, safer and cheaper to avoid altogether. You're welcome to buy one with your own cash and on the plus side your local bike mechanic can order his speedboat, I paid my mortgage off 10yrs early by fixing these over and over again for people who didn't know better. If I could give any quick advice to a buyer it would be to replace the sump plug with a magnetic 1 ask your tech why that is

My Honda is 16 years old My Kawasaki is 15 years old I had a chinese bike which lasted 8 years You can't assess the quality until 5/6 years minimum.

How similar is this to the DS525X, do you think it's the same chassis, I assume the engine is identical and probably in the same state of tune?

Same engine but completely different style of ride. You’re going from a scrambler to an adventure bike. Both great bikes, but it depends on what you want.

Totally get your point, but the reality is, that there has been a motorcycle industry in Europe for over a century, whereas the Chinese have only recently emerged as a bike manufacturer selling in Europe. With the mobile phone comparison ,that's a tad unfair as China has been making mobile phones since the beginning of the mobile phone manufacturing boom, so they aren't really destroying a (long established) Europe based manufacturing business as seems the case with their threat to Europe's motorcycle manufacturers'. If/when the Chinese do decimate European manufacturers', watch the prices of their bikes go up.

Spares, local main dealers, 2nd hand spares, after market accessories, massive devaluation, customer confidence and history. rust, poor reliability, poor quality ......Im only repeating what others say or think. They've a long way to go yet. They may get there but not in the immediate future, that's why they're cheaper than (better quality / established) existing brands.

Looks a CF MOTO 700 CLX. I don't doubt it's qualities...., but meehhhh. Voge is great brand but needs to build an image. Lacks character.

Made in China and Chinese are different things. For me, I'm trying to avoid 'Made in China' products as much as possible and definitely not buying Chinese motorbikes... no thanks.

Using the iPhone as an example of Chinese quality doesn't tell the true story. The "Apple" iPhone is an American product made in China, the quality being assured by America. I've had loads of Chinese good, including a motorcycle, some of the stuff being good, a lot of the stuff being bad. The motorcycle for example was pretty awful, the main bearings giving up after 11,000 miles. But, like early Japanese machines, Chinese bikes will get there, we'll see....

It will be rubbish unless it is quality assured by competency in the west. This is likely not designed in China as it actually looks good.
