I crossed the Rubicon when I decided to retire from my profession at 62. I've never regretted it. I'm now heavily involved in more fulfilling stuff like voluntary work and serving actively in church. 🙂

“We kindly request that in your next video, you talk about this village you live in. Tell us about its history and the history of its inhabitants. In fact, the place you live in is one of the most beautiful places a person could dream of living in. If possible, we hope that the video will be long.” . Make it an hour or more if you can

I've heard this idiom before and I understand its meaning, but I've never heard the story behind it. Honestly, I thought it was something related to the peak of a mountain, not a river. Thanks 👊

Hi… I wouldn’t say that studying at the university is a waste of time, because you get knowledge. By the way I totally agree with you about media don’t tell us how much effort successful people have put into their lives. The last time I had crossed the point of not return was when I bought my electric car, I wouldn’t turn back my previous one, ever. Does it sound correct.? Thanks for your videos! ❤it’d be amazing to build a circle of people and teachers for practicing our speaking Mark!

Hey Mark, one more thank you for that lesson. Very interesting. I am a music teacher. I try to teach my pupils not only in musical things. I teach them that education is important because at this point they don't really know which chances they will have in life. If my pupils are stupid and not educated, it will be harder to go through life. Hard to explain what I mean. Guess your understand. I totally agree with you concerning the university graduation thing. This is not the most important thing. The Messi story is just one of a million. He is only one who became rich and famous. What if he'd failed his soccer carrier? He would be a nobody. In my opinion, Education doesn't hurt. 😊 Nevertheless, I love watching your videos, and thank you for your opinion. Take care, Michael from Germany 😎 Mark, why are you educated in so many different things like history, languages, sports, politics etc? Probably this is all because you went to school and to university, right? This gave you the chance to be our teacher.

Hey Michael, I’m sure you’re an awesome music teacher! Yeah, a lot of people want to become famous but only a few make it. Hope I can get to a million subscribers one day. 😎 I think travelling and meeting different people has been the biggest source of my education. But I did learn things at university too. And I watch a lot of KZbin videos. I’m a lifelong learner! Wish I could have learned more German when I lived there!

To pass the point of no return, as you say Mark, would be like having tattoo on my body at the age of 20 years old, but 20 years later, I don’t want them anymore, I just cross the rubicon..

So many people have been crossing the Rubicon since the russians started the war in my country 😢They are still doing this, this war seems to be endless. Thanks the people of Canada 🙏many Ukrainians found there new life. It's good, their lives saved but many of them will never return... it's heartbreaking

Messi got a mess in his life at the age of ten, when he learned of his growth hormone deficiency. And the cost of therapy was huge, more than $1,000 per month. It was a crossing of the Rubicon - fate burned bridges behind him. He had his back against the wall, and the only option left - to become a good football player and thus pay hefty medical bills.

Hey, Mark. Thanks for sharing this very practical idiom🥰. My friend's family crossed the Rubicon and bravely moved to Vancouver from Shanghai many years ago. However, now he is considering to return till his retirement. Life seems like Someone In, Someone Out. Everyone has different thoughts each time because of the rapidly changing world. Can you let me know if you are with me on that? Thanks again, and have a wonderful week!😀

I partly agree with you about diplomas these days. But still I think it depends on a profession. You can be a drop-out from school and the best soccer player. Definitely. But let's say to be a doctor is a different story. No one will trust a person as a doctor without a diploma and their experience. We can't imagine a dentist without a diploma :) Or a teacher. Or an interpreter. Or something else demanding really deep knowledge. Sports is a different thing. Or singing. Or even a misician. It demands hours and hours of training and rehearsal. Persistance. Self-denial in a way. Creativity (it's not bad for everything though :) So, I think professions that are not connected with human's life and giving knowledge perhaps don't require a proper education. Some people wouldn't agree with me probably :)
