I came straight here from the new single. As soon as I heard it I thought "that is gonna SLAP live" and it totally does. Also I can't help but notice (music nerd in me 🤓) they switched up the rhythm in the verses from this to when they did the recording later. This is more or less a straight 6/8 all through but in the recorded/newer version the verses go to a 3/4 groove which has a completely different feel. In any case, I love this song and can't wait for the new album. DMB is coming my way in June and I'm seriously considering going.

I caught this earlier on our local WYCE station that plays eclectic music but also stuff like this. Anyway I liked the groove and middle eastern feel then I caught the vocals and it was unmistakeably DMB. I thought these guys went outside their box and did something heavy. The bass line rocks and well, Carter was Carter. I listened to it about 6 times today, shared it with my sons who are musicians and DMB fans. I also shared how it reminded me of Kashmir by Zeppelin.

Yeah, I was at this concert. I knew something was off about that turnaround before the second verse, even live I heard it. On other videos, you can see him hiccup after hitting the crash, but that isn't unusual. I am sure there are plenty of mistakes Carter does that you may not even notice, he can recover so well. There's an extra 3 count after the 12 on the break. Also, on DDTW on this night, Dave was off a half beat or so on "here's the hitch." Not sure what happens to not be able to be in time, after playing it so many years, but perhaps his monitor was out or he just lapsed. I kind of actually like Carter's mistake there.
