THIS WASN'T MADONNA'S FIRST TV APPEARANCE IN THE STATES! Her first TV screening was in 1982 on a show called DANCING ON AIR performing her 1982 club hit Everybody her first single as a solo artist signed by Sire(Warner Bros.) Keep in mind Madonna was in several bands before her fame. Back then many households didn't hve cable tv and that's why her '82 show on TV is almost forgotten. Madonna throughout 1983 did also appear on TV Shows in Europe to support her first album. American Band Stand is probably the first U.S. TV Interview with her? Might be wrong? Also it doesn't count but Madonna was on heavy rotation on MTV in '83 with Burning Up. When Madonna started out she was soooo cool & sweet as you can see!!! Your reaction is priceless luv it!

This was her first charting hit but her third single. It was the first time she was on US tv i believe live, but her last two singles still had music videos. She was unknown really, for her first two singles so this was her first actual “hit,” so to speak, but her big breakthrough was a couple singles later with “like a virgin.” There is no official music video to holiday however but she performed this a bunch of times and some people consider some of those performances music videos even though none of them are official

The reason why there’s no official music video for Holiday, is likely because her prior two songs didn’t break the top 100 singles chart. Those songs were Burning Up (there’s a video for it) and Everybody. So when Holiday got to #16, they started investing money in her career and made videos for the next 2 singles, Lucky Star and Borderline. There was a video made for it but, since it was at the beginning of her career, it was done very poorly. I don’t believe she or her people recognize it as an official video so the performance from The Blonde Ambition Tour was considered the first real video for it.

Madonna was so legendary especially in the 80s, though she had number 1s in the 90s and 2000s too the last in 2008, four minutes with Justin Timberlake. In the UK 13 number 1s and 38 top ten hits a true legend for sure.

She had done local NYC stuff Dick Clark had the power to make or break careers. When ABC got the rights to broadcast Live Aid his production company was in charge. Abc did want her on the broadcast because they thought she was too controversial and that her career was almost over. Dick threatened to quit unless they agreed to broadcast her and they did

You should check out a popular SPIN OFF to this song back in the day by two old school white rappers that sampled Holiday by Madonna and made it a hit as well. ( HOLIDAY RAP by MC Miker G & DJ Sven) There isn't and "official video" , but you can find on KZbin several performances by these guys. I think this was their one and only hit though...
