I read a quote where MJ had said he felt Madonna was jealous of him because she would never get people screaming at her concerts because she was a woman. I’m like, umm... all those young girls (and gays) who dressed like her? People freaked out at her concerts. MJ was a legend and icon, but Madonna had no reason to be jealous of him. What a weird thing to say... frankly it’s sexist

The cone bra outfits started during M’s “True Blue” album. She worked with Marlene Stewart on her costumes on this tour. This was during Madonna’s 1987 international and second tour, “Who’s That Girl”. It was titled after a movie she was in of the same name. Later she collaborated with Famous French designer Jean Paul Gaultier with the cone bra outfits and it continued with her her “ Blond Ambition” tour.

To fully appreciate the look and influence, watch Into the Groove from Desperately Seeking Susan and Borderline. Kids in the 80s sang this song, along with I want your sex and Centerfold and no one gave 2 $hits. Our parents just thought we had no idea what we were singing about and/or liked the songs too. We also wore no seatbelts or bike helmets. We were latch key kids raising ourselves and coming of age to Madonna, Prince, George Michael and Duran Duran. It was magical.

With this video, everyone noted Madonna's portrayal of a sexually independent and strong woman, similarity of a man wearing a lion's mask to that of Saint Mark and the link between the eroticism in the video and the vitality of Venice. Madonna's public persona of an indomitable, sexually unashamed, supremely confident woman was widely accepted by the younger generation who emulated her style and fashion in the so called “madonnamania” so that many girls in America started to dress like her. I remember waiting by the radio when this was released. The time it was gonna get played was announced. It was when music releases were events. I love your madonna reactions. I haven't seen anything from her first album. Please do "Borderline" or "Burning up". Burning up was the first song of hers i ever heard before i saw her and i was hooked from that moment on..i was 14

Btw, madonna's look at this era was inspired by early bananarama. She loved thecway they dressed. Of course she took their look and gave it her own twist. But i thought that was kinda cool

Yes keep these coming! I would love for you to watch God Control or Medellin (2 off her last album) so you can see what she’s still up to these days

I first saw Madonna on American Bandstand. She was like, I want to rule the world. WHAM waa big at the same time.. American Bandatand used to be how artists got known. So much nostalgia.
