I think you missed the point. So in the music video, both madonna and the old woman are ill (hence the scenes towards the end with pills next to her bedside). And the idea is like one final joy ride where they are just tired of the patriarchal system in the world and they just want to F it up. Obviously this is all metaphorically and not to be taken seriously. But the funny thing is that the music video was banned form TV for being too violent proving the point madonna was making. Because ironically there already is so much violence on TV as it is. So how come only this gets banned? Because it’s only ok when violence it’s depicted by a male actor... Cuz then it’s cool? Obviously not... And that’s why Madonna is the queen for pushing all these buttons and opening all these conversations.
@bluedragon44 жыл бұрын
I would be shocked if they ever got the point. These two are all surface level gays. No deep meaning or thoughts. I don't say that to be mean, it's just a observation after watching their videos. Not everyone can be a deep thinkers and they consistently prove that.

Madonna is showing her how being a good housewife and mother that now women can be strong independent and in this case a badass. The spoken word is taken from the book Cement garden. Girls can wear jeans and cut their hair short Wear shirts and boots 'cause it's okay to be a boy But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading 'Cause you think that being a girl is degrading But secretly you'd love to know what it's like wouldn't you What it feels like for a girl

This was the Above & Beyond remix; the album version is melancholy. Music came out in Sept., 2000- but this video not till early ‘01. A snippet of it premiered at the start of Madonna’s “Music” performance, at the 2001 Grammy Awards. MTV banned it, but out of fairness agreed to air it only once (I taped it on VHS! lmao). It became the best-selling video-single on the DVD chart. Madonna dedicated it to Britney Spears; about 1 year later, Britney released “I’m Not A Girl; Not Yet A Woman” . . . Madonna performed a Spanish rendition of “What It Feels Like For A Girl”, on The Drowned World Tour 2001- where another remix was used earlier in the show during a costume-change, as a video-interlude that went from a superhero rape-scene, which turned into an interrupted porno shoot, and THEN wound up being all just a dream! WIFLFAG was also featured on an episode of Glee. M’s ex-husband Guy Ritchie directed the video. He also did the recent remake of Aladdin, Snatch, & Star- a short film/commercial for BMW, also starring Madonna.
@ryancarney31304 жыл бұрын
The remix is by trance DJs & producers: Above & Beyond In early 2001, she basically gave them a chance to remix her song (they weren't popular at that time) and kick of their careers. Fast forward to 19 years later, above & Beyond are the biggest trance acts in the world and have a few record labels called Anjunabeats, Anjunadeep & Group Therapy

from what I understand and I don't know if i am correct, the video is about two women possibly destined to die, (Madonna, a badass murderer or thief and grandma, who has only a few years to live) who decide to live their last days challenging everything and doing things that escape femininity and are more associated with what men would do.

She's a Woman, She's Old, She's Crazy, She has botox, She can't sing, She doesn't play the instruments....The haters will always find anything to dismiss her instead of focus on the genius she is and that's because they don't feel comfortable with anyone who still stands exactly because she was the first woman to be different from others in the music industry by free expressing her points of views and personality without caring for approval of others, the first to stay "old" and still want to work and create art, that's why she is always paying a price, because she is PIONEER, INOVATIVE, UNIQUE, FIGHT LABELS, PUSH BUTTONS. For a man to be like that was always normal on the music industry but she is a woman, she should be quiet on her place and not to be interventive and express her opinions and above all never, never try to be on a place that was always and only reserved for men and objectifying men like they did objectifying woman on their music videos since then, how dare you Madonna? Men always liked to be on command and that's why they are afraid of her...That's the reason why she is a LIVING LEGEND, A MYTH, AN ICON, THE ONLY LIVING SUPERSTAR WHICH STILL REMAINS, and was named the QUEEN (of pop). Come on guys give her a break and let her continue her artistic and genius career while she is still alive, one day when she won't be with us people will notice her importance in History, but I guess it is always like that, you must lost someone important to know his real VALUE. That's why I'm always thinking how fortunate we are to have the privilege every single day to have her still among with us while she is ALIVE AND KICKING. For me Madonna is the definition of WOMAN and will always be until I die. Sometimes I think as a Madonna huge fan she really don't have the best voice in the world comparing with other singers nor is the best dancer nor is the best this or the best that and for me this is even more the reason why she is my favourite artist of all time, because with all this "limitations" she remains above other great artists on a timeline because she has PERSONALITY, CHARISMA, STYLE, INTELEGENCY and applies that on her artistic path and surpasses herself constantly, from others we can only say: "ok great voice this artist have, this singer is so pretty and sexy,..." we only appreciate them by their technical and physical skills, but with Madonna is different we appreciate her by some of this same skills but as WHOLE, as a PERSONALITY. Everytime she bring us a new record or concert she impregnate her unique strong sincere personality on it remaining coherent with her beliefs and convictions and that's why I think people still follow and respect her. She's BEATIFUL on her own way and I am not only speaking physically which she was of course more when she was younger but she is even more beautiful as time goes by because beauty is not only what you see outside but what you perception the others give you from inside and on this Madonna is the most beatiful person in the world and History because she is such a beatiful soul and human being inside. For any reason singers like Whitney, Mariah, Janet, Britney, Beyonce, Rihanna that stood for her great voices or style/beauty comparing to Madonna never accomplished what Madonna is and done (and I'm not saying I don't like those artists) because she has that "It" factor, a "je ne sais quoi", a MAGIC MYSTERY that no one can explain but that's why she is a MYTHICAL (LIVING) LEGEND in HISTORY. Many things have been said about this woman in the past and will always continue in the present and future because we want to explain and guess who is this person and woman/human being which is always defying us. She is LOVED and HATED, but the geniuses and myths were always like that, loved for some and hated by others, the true ARTISTS AND GENIUSES were always like that originating debate because they were DIFFERENT. Today to dismiss Madonna is kind of trendy but Madonna is ETERNAL like all LEGENDS are so as time goes by and as fashions move on she will stay UNTOUCHABLE and IMMORTAL as one of the most SINGULAR human beings that come to this planet and universe. Madonna is a mix of unique physical and personal beauty that combined together made the person who she is until today: A GODDESS among GODS. THANK YOU Madonna for CHANGING MY LIFE.

beautifully articulated. Thanks. Madonna has been misunderstood since Day 1. But, yes, for me, she's an inspiration and a life-saver too. And not just metaphorically. yes I agree... i think they missed the point, and so have many others who viewed this video when it came out and since. (but that's been the constant with Madonna's artistic output since day 1. She got misunderstood a lot) This video makes more sense viewed as an extension of the original song, with the profound lyrical content. The video is the visual representation of the spirit of the song. kzbin.info/www/bejne/naSvXoKHZriLma8 In my opinion. It's about the rage of how the patriarchy system in various forms over the years, across the globe - has f***ed women up. the two generations of women in that car going around in rage, and at times, giving what's due to women, like the huge tip to the woman in the gas station. It's a symbolism type video. It's not literal. it's art. The destruction in the video could be how the females across the globe, and various timelines, had been treated - crashed into, stolen from, messed up withm etc.

My take was always this... The theme behind the video is a woman taking control and turning the tables. We are to assume Madonna's character has been abused, or battered - or maybe just angry at the world. Her "Grandmother" is living a sad life of solitude and pain. Madonna takes them on one crime-ridden final joy ride assuming a role usually attributed to macho male action heroes, yet she still yields her feminine mystique. The elderly lady has one last thrill before dying, and Madonna's character enacts revenge on the male-dominated world from which she suffered. At the end, she ends their life of pain and fury by killing them both. Its an anger filled message - set to a very feminine and dreamy song.
