I’ve been seeing this video for 30 years and it’s so strange to see people who have never seen it! You’ve got to watch the Blonde Ambition Tour live version of Vogue. The entire Blonde Ambition Tour is iconic. And the documentary Truth or Dare documents the the whole tour behind the scenes and concert clips. I’m 40 years old and I grew up as a little gay/trans person watching this amazing woman. I took inspiration and strength from watching her fearlessness. She was always inclusive and supportive of the gay community. In fact the first gay kiss I ever saw was watching Truth or Dare and seeing Madonna’s backup dancers kiss. Quick Madonna trivia. Vogue as a legit single almost never happened. Her record company Warner wanted a B side track to a song called Keep It Together to help sell the single. Madonna went off and made Vogue for that and presented it to her label. They were smart enough to know that the song was WAY TOO good to be used as a throw away b side track to a cassette single and immediately wanted it as a stand alone single and thank the heavens for that! So they quickly tacked it onto the Dick Tracy soundtrack that Madonna made for the film even though the song had nothing to do with the movie. But there you have it. The biggest hit of 1990 and one of the most iconic songs ever.

actually she decided to write Vogue after often seeing Jose and Luis Voguing at The New York Club Soundfactory,,, she was entranced by them befriended them, asked them to teach her how to vogue, wrote a song about it and then used them in the video and Blond Ambition Tour... They taught the other dancers in the video who did not know Voguing, Most of the dancers in the video had already been selected to support the Tour and be featured as her Dancers onstage.

Directed by David Fincher (Director of Se7en, Fight Club, Gone Girl, Mindhunters, etc). The names in the spoken word/rap are names of Hollywood icons she looked up to and the style she was trying to emulate at the time. The music video shows several dancers who were dancing at the Balls in NYC in the late 80's. Several of the music video dancers, like Jose Gutierez and Luis Camacho, were in the legendary house of Xtravangza and did the choreography for the video. Jose can also be seen in the amazing Ball Scene documentary "Paris is Burning" which is a MUST - SEE!!! All the dancers in this video were also part of the Blond Ambition tour which was captured in the groundbreaking documentary movie "Truth or Dare: In Bed With Madonna", which openly spoke about being gay, gay culture, hiv and aids and several other topics which were considered taboo at the time. Jose is still a recurring supporting actor in the tv series Pose, as one of the judges during the balls

Hi guys: I’m a Madonna fan (3 months her senior). I get a real kick watching you younger guys loving her exactly the way I do. You couldn’t have said it any better when you said “ I don’t want it to end. I’ve seen this video a million times and I still feel the same way.

I’ve never seen a gay household freeze and watch the video when it premiered. Never heard of the song, we knew of dance craze ‘Vogue’ but never seen it performed. Everyone was in awe of the whole aspect of the video. The fashion, style, makeup, setting, lighting, editing, music and the dancing. Most definitely an iconic music video.

Watching this for the first time in the 90s made me realise what and who I truly was. Watching you two "getting it" all these years later warms my heart. Strike a pose, x

So glad you two are appreciating Madonna. Though I do find it strange you e never seen these videos. They are so iconic, so beautiful, so powerful. But then I guess where would you have seen them. You cannot imagine the inspiration and strength Madonna gave people. Truly empowered gay people. Truth or Dare, her documentary, I remember walking out of the theater with a handful of my gay friends. We were so shook none us said anything for several minutes walking down the street. Seeing gay men on the screen, unashamed was unbelievable at the time. Vogue at the VMA’s, Marie Antoinette you must see. And the year before at the VMA’s, express Yourself. I still watch those from time to time and am in awe. Nobody can even come close. Oh and watch her Super Bowl performance. It’s unbelievable.
