There's a life-total limit that you can watch where your opponents start acting weird and making odd decisions. It's typically (at least from my experience) that if you are at 25 or lower things start looking desperate. I dunno, just a random observation. This was a great game to watch!

I play her with necropotence and as a Voltron build which takes advantages of life gain and makes it a resource to get more cards to get more swoll and to destroy things that get in her way ;)

@@ecos889 see i wanted to make voltron and instead of suping up licia for it i was able to take a lot of the lands and tutors and build uril, the miststalker. i already have a artifact voltron deck for mirri the weatherlight duelist
@ecos889
@ecos889 5 жыл бұрын
@@nonothinGG6 For me I found Licia interesting to build because of the added value life gain prings to the table so I have a lot of spells that have pay life as part of their effects like command the dreadhoarde an (I play a lot of board wipes that will not hit my commander ;) and Bob to name 2) along with Vizkopa guild mage which is legit ridiculous and can finish a game quickly whilst smashing someone in the face with a big vampire girl. Then there are just fun synergies like archfiend of despair and the M20 broker of blood card for those effects where whenever you pay life for an effect you gain a bonus of inflicting life loss on everyone else also winning out of nowhere without infinite combo or drawing a tonne of extra cards to make your commander more swoll respectively. Mistalker is also a fun voltron commander I just find Licia for me has so much added synergy that makes her a blast to play with. Then again as generally more in the competitive format I just like card synergy alot even when I play casually which my Licia deck is. So really this is a just a reflection of my deck building style. :)

Maelstrom Wanderer puts both of the cascaded cards on the stack before they can resolve. This means that Momir Vig is still on the stack when the Archdruid is cast, so no Momir Vig trigger for Scott.
@MTGMuddstah
@MTGMuddstah 5 жыл бұрын
My understanding was that Wanderer resolves as such: "You cast Maelstrom Wanderer. Cascade(1st) triggers and goes on top of the stack. Cascade(2nd) triggers and goes on top of the stack. You pass priority. All other players pass priority in turn order. (or they do stuff, and if so, that happens now) Cascade(2nd) resolves. You Exile cards from the top of your library until you come across a nonland card cmc7 or less (perhaps a Sakura-Tribe Elder). If you do exile such a card you may cast it without paying its mana cost. Regardless of whether you chose to cast the the card, you will now put all such exiled cards on the bottom of your library in a random order. (including the one one you could have cast (Sakura-Tribe Elder), if you chose not to cast it) You pass Priority. All other players pass priority in turn order. (or they do stuff, and if so, that happens now) The spell you cast from Cascade(2nd) resolves. Any triggers, perhaps due to a creature entering the battlefield or similar, are now put on the stack. (we'll assume there aren't any to keep this simple..er) You pass Priority. All other players pass priority in turn order. (or they do stuff, and if so, that happens now) Cascade(1st) resolves. You Exile cards from the top of your library until you come across a nonland card cmc7 or less (perhaps a Balefire Dragon). If you do exile such a card you may cast it without paying its mana cost. Regardless of whether you chose to cast the the card, you will now put all such exiled cards on the bottom of your library in a random order. (including the one one you could have cast ( Balefire Dragon), if you chose not to cast it) You pass Priority. All other players pass priority in turn order. (or they do stuff, and if so, that happens now) The spell you cast from Cascade(1st) resolves. Any triggers are now put on the stack. (we'll continue to assume there aren't any) You pass Priority. All other players pass priority in turn order. (or they do stuff, and if so, that happens now) Your Maelstrom Wanderer spell resolves. (Hurray!) You get priority." In this case, Momir was Scott's Cascade 2 resolving first, which we did. We then moved to resolve the Cascade 1, which was the Archdruid. Maybe it was poorly explained because of my narration?
@DarkEinherjar
@DarkEinherjar 5 жыл бұрын
@@MTGMuddstah Never mind... I had thought the two cascades were a single trigger because of how they were worded, but it's actually two triggers, and the spell from the first one will resolve before the second trigger according to the rulings. My bad.

So unfortunately momir doesn’t work that way with cascade. Both cascaded spells from the wanderer will be on the stack before either resolves, so momir won’t see the archdruid go on the stack and trigger. So no tutor, no scary behemoth that turn. Sorry friendo.

In fact, due to the way the stack works, archdruid actually resolves before momir does! So much wrong with that play...

And then he drew it....... that whole turn was a bust!

Hi Edward, Someone else also mentioned a similar point. I've copy and pasted my reply: My understanding was that Wanderer resolves as such: "You cast Maelstrom Wanderer. This information was found on an MTGSalvation rulings section in regard to MW. Maybe it was poorly explained because of my narration?

Thanks for replying sir! First off, great video, as ever. Second you are quite correct. That is indeed how cascade works, I donked my explanation in the orig comment pretty badly too, so no worries. I do take issue with the draw he made after the 2 cascade spells resolved, as that appeared to have no impetus. However it’s perfectly possible I missed something. Magic is hard, and it’s really easy to look at playback footage and pretend t be top level judge. Be well sir!

Thanks Edward! Yea, Magic certainly doesn't make it easy in some cases on rulings. We really try our best to make sure we adhere to them, or at least to what seems like it'd be the most intuitive. I really appreciate you trying to help us out by watching.
