Beautiful look. I would have inserted the 2 batteries side by side using the arrangement of the old protruding radiators, so as to be able to always make the "tank" usable as a very useful glove box. Unfortunately, due to the range and price, it is still not an evaluable purchase.

My commute takes me on national speed limit roads so 45mph isn't going to cut it. Love the looks, love the style, just a bit more oomph please.

Yes agree. Needs to be able to do 65+ mph really. Otherwise it’s an electric moped with pseudo bike styling.

I really like this bike despite its shortcomings but I just wish it had 2 seats. Some of us like to take a friend or family along for the ride sometimes. Add a little more power this would be awesome. Maybe the next model.

Instead of quoting the manufacturer's mileage claims (like every other review) it would have been much more helpful to tell us how long it lasted in real world use.

Sort of like the all electric Mini Cooper, the short range keeps the price lower, but limits the sales. Only brakes and tires to maintain, no oil changes. Hopefully as battery technology improves years from now they will offer a replacement better battery for this, if the company still exists or another company decides there is enough demand.

As Tim says below, the lack of a pillion seat kills it off for me, shame. Also the prices have gone up from £4k/£5k to £5k/£6k. Sign of the times I suppose.

Awesome look. No 11kW motor option? It would step up the performance. Think EU pricing will be bad with imports tariff?

Affordable it's 10k Australian yes it's very beautiful but it can't go on the highway if this done 120km per hour with at least 100 km of range it'll be perfect.

It's a lovely looking bike, but roughly 1.5 times as expensive as an Enfield 350 with roughly half the speed of the Enfield, half the number of seats, and half the range. Essentially, it's got the performance of a 50cc twist and go at about 3 x the price. A way to go yet before I buy one. But it is a lovely looking bike.

Hi Charlie! Having seen your journey from ashwaire to California, I think it was North America. Anyway, I don't think you're going to do it online. If you go out you couldn't travel 40 miles away. I live in North Devon. It wouldn't even get me to South Devon, it is a press bike with a battery strapped on it It's not doing it for me. Have a good day

Generally electric motorcycles don't have much range so you should consider a petrol bike, maybe a moped if you want it for city use. If you don't want a petrol bike but you want it to be electric and in the same price range you should compare Maeving RM to Seat Mo 125

I wasn't aware modern bikes self cancel their signals. I guess folks are getting spoiled.
@clasqm

Self-cancelling indicators were pretty much standard equipment in the 80s on Japanese bikes, even 400cc commuters. For some reason (bean-counters, I suppose) they disappeared around the year 2000.

My 1997 Yamaha XV1300 had self-cancel indicators and cruise control (scary at times). My 1999 Yamaha XV1300 has neither self-cancel indicators nor cruise control. Same model but quite a few differences in two years.

Or a Triumph Daytona for the same price. Your kind of missing the point. It’s electric…….
@ChumbahNutz
@ChumbahNutz Жыл бұрын
@@AutoEV No, I do get the point, however it is more form than substance. With such limited range and performance it offers little at the price point IMO. With all the marketing that's being invested atm, and everyone sticking to the script it's hard to get an objective review. There is no shortage of ebikes on the market that could give the Maeving a run for its money, and custom builds that could probably outperform it in both speed and duration and still surpass their price point. Conceptually you could double the battery capacity as standard, and have the controller mounter where the tank is, lowering the CoG as well. Sadly, I think it is a missed opportunity. But then each to their own.
@AutoEV
@AutoEV Жыл бұрын
@@ChumbahNutz I get what you are saying. But then it’s also down to desirability. The market for restomod 911s is proof of that. They make no sense, and there are objectively much better cars for far less money. But that doesn’t stop them from being desirable. The world has a love of things that look old but behave with modernity. No, the Maeving doesn’t move the yardstick for electric motorbikes, but neither is it trying to. It’s appeal lies with how it looks and what it offers at a (relatively) low price. But as you say, different strokes for different folks.

A single Chinese part kills it for me
@AutoEV
@AutoEV Жыл бұрын
Do you know how many parts from China are imbedded in everyday electronics? iPhone is built in China, so is the BMW iX3, Tesla, over 30% of rechargable batteries (not just cars, but laptops, phones, cameras) are built in China. Whilst I do understand where you are coming from, it is inevitable that you will have something in your life that is either built in China or has Chinese componentry.
@JamesDentin-jj6my
@JamesDentin-jj6my Жыл бұрын
@AutoEV yes I do, your point being? My point is that what happens when greed takes over, failure to invest in your own country, and consumer stupidity. All of those parts are available in the west, but of course see point 1. Just wish people wouldn't call or market things as BRITISH at least Charlie was straight up on that point more so than some. They are assembled in Britain, and there is a difference. Perhaps their engineers could think of making the bits in-house? I do my level best to source items with the least amount of our ENEMIES crap in it, shame all consumers don't. We all need to make more effort to cut out the commie and bring the industry back home instead of rolling over and accepting it.
