The RM1S will be capable of 65mph and it will retail at £7495, it's release date will be in April 2024, you can reserve one with a deposit of £500. Maeving was founded by two ex-Triumph engineers, their factory is in Coventry, the birthplace of many classic British motorcycle marques. I think the new model is excellent value for an electric motorcycle that is hand built in the United Kingdom.

@@davidmacgregor5193Their site says 70mph top speed and up to 80 mile range. Being realistic/conservative with it’s real world capabilities, a 60-65mph speed with a 60 mile range is likely and very manageable, especially when you consider how easy it would be to charge.

I have one of these and I love it, clearly as this video says there are cheaper ways of getting around town but, for the utter brilliance of this bike £5k new and including tax - is really not a lot of money to pay. Clearly there will still be cheaper ways to get around town, but there is little point these days in having a much faster bike because if you are commuting you can't go any faster than the speed limit anyway. I have had classic cars my whole life and they always get a bit of attention, but not like this bike, it looks great in photos but it is truly beautiful in the flesh - and a joy to ride.

I’m a 63 year old Coventry kid living in Throop Dorset. I drive electric and ride a E Bike.🚲. I really like these Motorcycles especially the faster one. I would own one tomorrow for cruising around Dorset. 1 thing I would mention is battery cold weather performance. My car battery range drops like a brick during cold weather but I’m running a heater as well in a car. So try and keep your motorcycle battery at room temp if possible before your journey. It will make all the difference for performance and range. Great looking bike anyway, I’d love one sat in my garage. 👍

Good review, thanks. Some people criticised it, however i see it as an honest opinion, and we are all entitled to hold those, and to be respected for it. I won't be getting one because I need luggage space, do a lot more than 40 miles and at higher speeds for most of my trips. Also, I think that having good acceleration as well as good brakes is safer. I do see, though, that the Maeving will suit some people. One of the things I like about it is its simplicity.

You keep talking about it not being economical, but the reality is that an annual zone 1-6 travelcard (the distances most users would be doing) is £3,120. Or £299 a month. You can get the RM1 on hire purchase for about £100 a month - so immediately it's cheaper than the tube.
@ToniReviews
@ToniReviews 20 күн бұрын
You make a Good point but the reason I say economical is because you couldn’t ride this outside zone 2. Getting out into the hustle of outer London this thing wouldn’t survive, hence the need for other ways to get around. I would love to see a test ride from central London out to uxbridge or alike travelling through the major arterial routes. As a long time motorcyclist living in a pretty hectic part of London navigating daily main arterial routes I speak from experience when I say this isn’t economical, mainly on the basis it isn’t practical if you have to navigate these types of routes. Hope that makes more sense

Hi David. I totally agree, everyone is entitled to an opinion and we are also entitled to differ. As a motorcyclist this doesn’t really fit the bill as a motorcycle, more a motorised cycle for sure but not a motorcycle- but in my opinion as you pointed out. Many thanks for sharing your thoughts, it’s always welcomed and the comments are appreciated and a valuable contribution to the videos 👍

Hi. Thanks for your feedback. The reason I say middle class is the fact that the bike would only be suitable to zip around zone 1 locations, so you would have to be wealthy enough to live in this zone. It’s literally just a pop to a coffee shop type of machine not a practical daily commuter- which is why the middle class reference came. Hope that makes sense. Of course this is all just my personal opinion 😂👍

Hi. I’ve not test ridden one of these so I couldn’t really give a solid answer. If you test ride one I’d be interested to know what your thoughts were?!

I like your direct style, Toni. I won't be buying this bike, either, although it looks good. Actually, I think silent bikes are dangerous. Pedestrians don't look what they're doing. They need to hear what's coming. They can usually hear my Buell XB12X. Excellent review. Nick

Hi Nick. I totally agree with you there. Pedestrians don’t look. I can’t remember if I included it in this video but I was riding down Columbia road and pedestrians everywhere. No one paid a blind bit of notice as they walked in the road with all their bundles of flowers from the market. I did feel very vulnerable on it. I think you make a good point and am slightly jelous of the XB12X! Thanks for your kind words Nick 👍

Hi. With a commute at 36 miles per day and 17 stone I’d steer clear of a Maeving. To be honest I’m not sure the electric bikes are there just yet. What’s the issue with the hornet? They fantastic commuter bikes why the need to reduce to a 125? If you were set on a 125 I’d stick with Honda just because of the build quality you can always rely on a Honda.

At last, sanity prevails. This bike is all style no substance, just like the hipsters it's aimed at. I'm glad you didn't buy one Toni and destroy all the street cred it's taken you years to build up. It’s a lovely looking bike with a lot of thought behind the concept and design, and I’m sure it will suit a small niche consumer market. I like to test a variety of motorcycle related products and brands, especially as the Maeving is really paving the way in what could be the future of motorcycling. Not all products I review are things I aspire to own personally but more my viewers can benefit from an honest review. As for the insta 360, I’m not planning any reviews just yet as I’ve a lot to get to grips with with the camera but there are some great reviews out there already if you are looking for some insight 👍

Toni, which mode did you have it in? Your start up experience sounds like you had it in "Eco" mode which like you said is very soft acceleration and low top speed. I'm with you on the styling, it's got that British-thing going on, and I can't help but feel there's a hint of 1970's Doctor Who going on with that tubing from the "tank" to the battery. And like you, I can't help but feel the better option for inner city travel is an e-bike, you get to use all the cycle lanes which means you're just as quick, if not quicker round town than almost any motorcycle electric or i/c, you save yourself at least £4k and there's even that little extra health benefit of having to pedal (slightly). Of course there's plenty of other cities with a 15-20 mile commute where the Maeving might be better suited, just bobble into town and plug it in at work, but tbh if I was going for an electric commuter I'd probably pick up something like a Nui step-thru for half they price and better weather protection.
@ToniReviews
@ToniReviews 10 ай бұрын
@@AlexOnABoat Hi Alex. I tried all 3 modes. I rode it in the sport mode most of the time as the other 2 modes were even slower. Generally even in sport mode the acceleration is gradual as I think they are aiming this bike at the beginner market what with only needing a cbt. I agree, if price is a factor in going for an economical around town commuter id go for a standard e-bike which is cheaper, I could buy on the cycle to work scheme and get a huge tax break, plus have the flexibility to use cycle lanes or jump on and off where i wanted, rather than having to have insurance or be susceptible to speed cameras etc. I think with the abundance of economocal options in most cities now with things like ebikes and scooters via an app, it just leaves a very small window for possible users of something like the maeving, which in comparison is quite expensive, just for a town only bike. Thanks for watching and for your thought provoking comments :)
@AlexOnABoat
@AlexOnABoat 10 ай бұрын
@@ToniReviews I took one out a while back and while I was restricted to pottering round the back streets of west London I can't say I remember the acceleration being that bad. Certainly it wasn't neck snapping, and there's no way I'd have beaten a Deliveroo rider (the fastest thing in London) off the lights but I don't remember it being particularly sluggish. Maybe I was just lulled into the whole vintage vibe though? I do like it, and if it was half the price I might just have been tempted... ...who am I kidding, if I wanted a relaxed pottering bike with vintage looks I'd buy a Royal Enfield 350 Classic and save myself two grand.

So , if ive understood your review correctly you've not taken the bike to maximum speed and only done a test ride? Try a true user experience before giving, what can only be stated as a very subjective opinion. I own one. Use it regularly but not for long distances. In terms of the sellers adverts, I suggest that anyone interested in buying, reads and fully absorbs every detail. I'm afraid that this review has completely missed the fundamental advantage. IT IS ELECTRIC-- USES NO FOSSIL FUEL. And as a commuter it beats any legal electric scooter. As to power from the off. It is no rocket but gets you away from the traffic lights smartly and ahead of most cars so do not beleive this reviewer. No apologies from me but the review is not balanced.

i did take it to full speed (not on the road) and all experiences are subjective. I wouldnt publish anything which I didn't feel was fair - as I always state these are my opinions and I hope they give someone a more balanced view of the Maeving RM1. For the money there are far better options out there. Thje review was on Maeving as an electric motorcycle and its just not that at all. as an electric bike it would be great, but hustling London traffic its just a no no. Theres no way it can get away from traffic with London cars and bikes. My super 73 does a better job . Thanks for your opinion im sure many other owners will agree with you.
