I don't know if anyone noticed what the security guards were talking about on the "Enemy Of The State" mission, but one security guard was talking about a cartoon character & had an idea for the character to drive a car, shoot with a gun, and walk everywhere. That security guard was making a reference to the Mafia 2 game or any other open world games similar to Mafia.

In 0:38 instead of shooting the guy, you can also an instant punch so you can save bullets. The instant punch works when the enemies are holding their guns and when you get close enough to the enemy and you put your guns away or your hands empty, an icon appears on the bottom left of the screen to push a button and Vito, Joe and Jimmy performs a instant punch. Their punch animation look like exactly as combo punches in hand in hand combat, but you push the button once instead of 3 times.

For the quest to kill Derek in chapter 14, you can actually skip the encounter altogether if you have enough money to pay Bruno. The easiest way I did was to farm selling the Lassiter limousine in one of the previous chapters (late chapter 12 till the end of chapter 13). The prompt to go see Derek will stay on your map into chapter 15 as well, but the door will not open at all.

Here are a few bugs and details I noticed while playing: (I might be mistaken on some parts because it's been about 2 years since I last played it) There are three approaches when entering the building in chapter 3 you can enter through that toilet window. You can pick the lock or you can climb the building and enter through some office window which makes things harder or easier depending on the approach. After stealing the stamps with stealh approach for some reason basement doors will be open right outside of the building. If you jump inside you will be back in the basement where you disable the alarm. And in the same mission there always will be a beggar in the alley if you stand next to him he will demand money and say "Family kidnapped by ninjas need money for karate lessons" which is an early internet meme. If you kill an npc right next to cars blood might splatter on the floors of the car which can actually taint your feet. You will see bloody footprints after driving the bloody car and leaving it. In stairway to heaven chapter. There is an interactable empty cabinet for some reason. You can open and close it. Maybe the money was supposed to be in there but this would make the money missable and make the mission a lot more unpleasant to play since mission has a free way approach rather than linear. In the same mission After taking joe to the Greco you can get back to the derek's office which will be empty you can access to hangar as well. the place will kinda be creepy. In the same mission for some reason If you take a different route when you are going to bruski you will always fall through the map with you car but to be honest I don't remember which route was the buggy route. You can actually one shot the last boss with mellee. In Jimmy's first DLC there was a bug where every shop owner called police on me upon seeing me. I didn't commit any crime or shoot any gun or anything. There was a police army chasing me because probably each shop owner spawned at least 2 police cars. I don't remember how I triggered it hell it might even be very rare or very hard to replicate.

I beat Mafia II arrrrounnnd 2017 I wanna say but it never really stuck with me and I've tried to replay it a few times since then but I think discovering and heavily getting into Mafia (2002) in late 2017 and thus having similar expectations in innovation for Mafia II sort of killed this game for me.

Really like this game, it has a lot of small details and the car physics that make it enjoyable to play. If only the story was stretched more and the world has more engagements like in the DLCs it would've been one of the best games of 2010s. 2k rushed the game/story so much. Wished they made more missions for Clemente and Luca, side missions for Bruski or Guiseppe. And especially more interactions with Derek and Steve to build a bond and make the reveal at the end more shocking. When Vito was made, doing side missions for the Vinci family or little interactions in the Mona Lisa Bar can add more to the story. They could've also added more details about Vito's blood family, told the history of his father, and have more interactions with Franky and Eric.

Yes same problem, i have the remaster on ps4. And there are a lot of bugs. Also in the Mission with Joe Barbaro in the Mall where you escape from the police and on the roof is a cutscene but nothing happens there and in a another mission i feel under the map. Really bad work there

Go into the mission with enough to pay him from the mission prior. Or, DO NOT ROB A STORE THE ENTIRE MISSION. Not a suit not a register… if you need money, crush cars, and crush cars only. Though, exporting at the Docks prior to wasting Derek may work as well. Just my personal work around
