Gaming Pastime reviews Mafia II: Definitive Edition for PC.
Developed by 2K Czech and published by 2K Games, Mafia II was released for PC August, 2010. A remastered version titled Mafia II: Definitive Edition was released for PC in May, 2020 and features improved visuals and includes all of the DLC. Mafia II reflects a different time period and tells a good story. It's a shame the DLC isn't of the same quality.

These mafia games are such an amazing little treat. I wish more modern games had this type of story telling g open world stuff. It's just so engaging. The only thing I think they should add is a really mild bullet time effect. Not like matrix or max pain but more like for quick short bursts. To get great heads hots lol

Hello Gaming Pastime!! Love Mafia 2 Definitive Edition!! Got this on the PS4 and I really enjoy it! It definitely has the 1950s vibes for the gangster genre and I also love the graphics and environment! 🎮 The only minor issues I personally have with the game is that it sometimes has some glitches and crashes. Some levels take forever to load mostly since the Definitive Edition has some qualities that the developers forget to fix. Other than that, I still really enjoy this game! Mafia 2 was suppose to be open world, all the characters Joe introduces you to in the 1945 segment were supposed to have side missions attached to them, Giuseppe could sell you fake gun permits so when you had a gun out in public the police would check your permit first, Derek would have you go get exotic cars, and Bruski would have you get regular cars, the real estate agent that introduces you to your apartment was suppose to sell you various property around the city and buy cars at the car dealerships, the whole section in the 50s was suppose to be open world, all of this was scrapped due to time constraints

Great review! I think the open worlds in Mafia games are just there to create a strong sense of place. Man, these are such good games.

Today the postscript "Definitive Edition" means that this is most likely a shitty, lazy remaster.

I mean the Mafia 1 'definitive edition is brilliant and is a full effort remake. Not sure why they followed it up with such a lazy effort for the arguably even better mafia 2. perhaps they just didn't feel it needs it as much as tbf it really doesn't, its still a fantastic game in its near unchanged form like this whilst Mafia 1 had become extremely dated. now we need a Mafia 3 remake that just completely replaces it with a game that isn't total horse shte lol

No there's still some major bugs but if it's on sale then I'd pick it up because there's nothing game breaking just annoying

I feel like the definitive edition is a weird one, where they made so many seemingly pointless changes to character and world aesthetics, but a lot of the other changes are good. I don't get how there are still some major glitches in it though, but Mafia 2 will forever be my favorite game so it doesn't matter, and at least when you buy one you get the other

@@flyingfrog7847 They changed Vito's eye color,. the face of one of the important gas station attendants, Joe's hairstyle is slightly changed, some of the posters and what not and other things like that. You can look up videos or lists of all the changes they made like that. A lot of them are just broken as a result, like the textures outside Joe's apartment or Leo Galante looking out the window in the final cutscene.

I played Mafia 1 when I was a kid, and got 100%. With all free ride extreme vehicles. That was a joy to play. I also got 100% from Mafia 2 (all DLCs, playboys, wanted posters...). Didn't play Mafia 3 because of my shitty computer but I'll get 100% on that one too one day! Beautiful game there's no doubt about it!

Gaming pastime, you should try this game called Hypercharge: Unboxed! It's an indie game where you play as an action figure, it has 4K textures, and the gunplay feels like Halo!

It's sad I can't play this game again, because everytime I install it & play a little bit.......it seems to shut off my internet connection for some reason. I don't know if anyone else had that issue & also I couldn't get past where vito is about to steal the hot rods, because of the black screen.

IMO running out of gas is one of my favorite features of the game, it makes it feel more realistic and immersive, imagine making sure to pump up on gas before you know you're going to get into a car chase or you forget to pump and you run out so you have to find a way out of the situation.

This is the worst "definitive edition" I've ever played tbh It's full of bugs and crashes, there's even a glitch near the end of the game, I couldn't even finish this game. It's a shame because Mafia 2 has the best characters in the series

This? The worst? Nah. It's a great remaster. It has precisely 2 bugs that are both minor. It has tremendously better visuals than the original.
