My job was outsourced to a company in India.... They laid off an entire team to hire them. It wasn't because they couldn't find anyone to work. The company wanted to save a buck and didn't care how our lives were impacted.

No wonder India has replaced Mexico as the top country receiving remittances from the USA. I remember Trump threatening to tax remittances in his 1st Term. India received $125 billion from Indians living in the USA. Imagine if that money was spent in the USA. American CEO's have an appetite for foreign workers from the most menial to high tech jobs. They can hold the Visa over their heads and for undocumented, threaten to deport them if they complain.

Interesting fact. A large portion of H1B visa's are sponsored by Indian multinationals (Infosys, Wipro...etc) that have no interest in hiring Americans. They prefer Indians because H1-B visa holders are beholden to the firm and can be overworked long hours. Before burning out the H1B visa holder gets USA citizenship and leaves the sponsoring firm. The firm hires more H1-B visa holders from India to fill the vacancy and the cycle repeats. Good for Indians and Indian multinationals but not so good for Americans.

If foreign born workers are paid lower wages then explain why Indian Americans have the highest median household income. Also explain why Flipinos, Chinese, Taiwanese, and pretty much every Asian American's median income is much higher than that of a white American? The explanation is that they invest in education, especially science and engineering education, from a young age. Most STEM Masters and PhD graduates are also foreign-born.

When I interviewed at Tesla about a year ago I was interviewed by a foreign worker. I didn't get the job and I have no ill will towards the individual who interviewed me. It wasn't a fit anyways. It seemed to me that he was a MIT graduate who was working below my current salary full time putting in 60 - 80 hours a week. He was forced to go into the office and thus lived in the most expensive cities in the country. When I asked about work life balance he looked at me like I was some kind of alien. It seemed like all of the benefits were barely competitive, and really not when you consider the area you are required to live in. The vibe I get is that Elon and other tech companies in the area are luring foreign workers into lower salary jobs right out of college, burning them out, then churning through another graduating class. Some are great hires and end up at the company long term, most chrun and burn or make lateral moves. All Elon wants here is to is streamline the government portion of this churn and burn process. I don't get the vibe that he cares about American engineers or workers.

The US can certainly use additional highly skilled engineers, doctors, scientists and others, but the H1-B visa program is the worst possible way to bring them in. Almost all H1-B visas are sponsored by companies with market capitalization greater than $100 billion dollar, and the reason they bring them in is that while these employees are reliant on their H1-B visa, the company can pay them a fraction of what they would make if they were a US citizen. The right solution is to make these highly skilled individuals citizens so that they don't depress the salaries of highly skilled individuals already in the US. This can be done without increasing the total number of legal immigrants by giving a preference to those with skills, i.e. merit based immigration.

The U.S. doesn't seem to learn from it's mistakes. In the 1980s 1990s and 2000s American production and manufacturing capacity was outsourced to China, India, and other nations by US companies in order to save a buck on labor costs. In the short term these American companies saved a buck, but in the long term saving a buck led to the creation of competitor companies within the Global Market. Cheap labor in a place like China allowed the Chinese to learn American innovations and expertise thereby allowing them to create their own products and services, for example COMAC a Chinese national owned aviation company was created after years of collaboration with Boeing and Airbus. I am not mad or judging the Chinese, the Indians, or any other group if the American/western corporate complex is providing the opportunity you take it.

But seeing offices like Deloitte (Nashville/Tampa), Accenture, and Bank of America (CA), where 80% of tech workers are on H1 visas, makes me question if the U.S. needs more h1 tech workers. I see there is a big problem: if a job application on LinkedIn gets 100+ applicants after it has been posted for 1 hour, those applicants are often never hired. For God's sake, this is like getting into Harvard. do we need more IT workers ?

I have worked in talent acquisition/HR management for more than two decades and I can promise you that we would rather hire a US citizen over someone with an H1b visa every day of the week. Contrary to some of the comments I read here, companies cannot pay someone who needs sponsorship less than a US citizen and in fact the costs are much greater to hire someone who is not a citizen/green card holder. It is much more costly and takes much more time and paperwork to hire a non-citizen and the paperwork and costs continue for years until the employee no longer requires sponsorship. To top it off, the visa holders will often jump to another company the moment they no longer need sponsorship after a company has spent tens of thousands on the employee. Again, hiring US citizens/green card holders is the preferred route!

One group came in through a legal port of entry and the other payed a cartel member to skip the line. We chose not to deport or arrest the latter because of poor civics education and because in certain cities and states they are allowed to vote in spite of federal law. Now you can be an informed voter next time. You're welcome.

WE AMERICANS DO NOT SEEM TO UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE ONLY 4% OF THE GLOBAL POPULATION. I DO HAVE A DEGREE IN BIO CHEMISTRY AND WE DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH QUALIFIED AMERICANS IN STEM OR OTHER DISCIPLES. 6 OUT OF 10 RESAERCHERS IN THE U.S ARE CHINESE AMERICAN SCIENTISTS..AT LEAST 50% OF OUR NATIONS STEM GRADES ARE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS. ITS NOT ONLY THE TECH INDUSTRY BUT THE MEDICAL FIELD WE HAVE TO IMPORT NURSES FROM AROUND THE WORLD. THE REASON FOR OUR TECHNOLOGICAL SUPREMACY IS THE H1B VISA. THIS IS WHY ITS CALLED THE GENIUS VISA. WE BRING IN THE BEST AND THE BRIGHTEST FROM AROUND THE WORLD GIVE THEM GREEN CARDS AND MAY ARE FOUNDERS OF COMPANIES EMPLOYING AMERICANS. WE HAVE LOST 1700 OF SOME OF THE WORLDS BEST SCIENTISTS AND RESEARCHER'S TO CHINA BECAUSE OF HARASSMENT ACCUSATIONS FOR BEEN CHINESE AMERICAN. OUR RACISM AND MAKE AMERICA WHITE AGAIN IS BECOMING SELF DESTRUCTIVE.

you're arguing for (colorblind) meritocracy. in that case, race shouldn't matter to you. it would not matter to lose "SOME OF THE WORLDS BEST SCIENTISTS AND RESEARCHER'S TO CHINA" because you can get the best from other countries based on your thinking. however, how can that explain other countries that do not follow the same immigration strategy and do fine? the view of immigration will create an everlasting pit that is the american lower class. if they don't plan to help now, when? just import more foreigners to "win"? hint, these immigrants will be americans of tomorrow, their children will face the same problem but greater because it's not stopping, AT ALL. conservatives complained for years and it didn't budge one bit. effectively means the government is not for the people. and the least is that they prioritize americans that can do the same job, that's all.

I agree with MAGA on the H1-B1 Visas. My promotion went to a H1-B holder not because they were more qualified, but because they were cheaper. MAGA Erupts After Musk, Ramaswamy Voice Support For H1-B1 Visas To Hire Foreign-Born Engineers. Hire qualified Americans!

I think what people are getting wrong is that most of you do not know what an H1-B visa and the process of obtaining one. This is for “highly-specialized” immigrants. Not just for any type of worker, unfortunately the USA is not an overly STEM oriented country in its education sector, the growth is very minimal in comparison to the growth of the market. According to BLS, projected growth (engineers and known occupational outlooks) from 2023-2033 is an average of 8%. According to Gemini AI jobs are being created faster than degrees are being awarded. So corporations will obviously have to hire outside what is found inside.

The actual benefit of hiring foreign workers is the cheaper cost for business. The US public does not realize the US economy is government, households and business. All three need each other. The government is supposed to be the unbiased and fair referee. But citizens keep electing pro business politicians that hurt household interests like wages and benefits The US elected the most pro business government in the US that has likely ever been.. Actions speak louder than any words. So, if Trump enables tariffs on any of these nations that do not pay tariffs his actions will say he is pro business regardless of what comes out of his mouth because the tariffs are too low to bring back manufacturing to the US in mass and it will have no measurable effect on the fentanyl drug trade. The US got royally conned but this is their opportunity to learn there is no genie in a bottle or braggadocious rich person that can save them from their own ignorance.

If the H1B visa is for high skilled talent, minimum wage should be 100K for that visa holder. Currently it is very low and it causes American workers to be paid less too.

Americans are not becoming Engineers because it requires incredible focus. TikTok is single handedly destroying focus. I worked at a Civil engineering company for 8 years, its not for everyone. You have to be honest and recognize your own mistakes and not be afraid to do that. Americans struggle with that.

TikTok has nothing to do with the underfunding of American education. You as a voter share blame because you didn't demand your politicians properly fund education so it's not in the lower bracket of education funding in the world.

A lot of people don't have integrity, nothing new. The tech jobs require non-stop learners. If you don't have the ability the focus you will not make it anyway. The people who don't keep learning/training with the evolving technology are not fit for the job.
