I'm very impressed. This little demonstration not only shows the entertaining properties of magnets but also the maths of certain geometric transformations. It's all about symmetry.

I love these. My 4-year old son has a set of 160 of them. The polarity trick is useful for play but kind of a pain for cleanup because u need to stack one by one.

For my chemistry students, I got a set of “Snatoms” (snap atoms). The atoms are held together by magnets, something similar to the toy you were demonstrating. What I found that was interesting is the magnets are loosely held magnetic ball bearings. This way, the atoms can snap together, but also able to rotate without falling off.

Most of the video I was wondering how cool that tabletop is, instead of watching the magnetsXD

Any chance you'll do a Pocket83 and make your own out of wood? I'd be very interested in a video like that. Especially if you come up with new shapes.

Ville QQ Simple everyday items can have complex designs or features. This makes them interesting to certain people who are interested in how things are constructed and operate (engineers).

Interesting. I bet you could come up with some kind of magnetically-activated gizmo for your marble machines. First marble flips a magnet into place, which causes a lever to be attached in one particular orientation. Second marble drops another magnet, which repels the first. Something along those lines.

True. Forgot all about those. I used to have affiliate links, but got rid of all of them when I decided they pay too little to bother tracking them. And I think they just recently reduced their comissions too.

Hmm.. will the next video involve 20+ wood triangles and a stack of rare earth magnets?
@slomatt7 жыл бұрын
Looks like you'd need 10 triangles with NSS and 10 with NNS, magnets could be fixed in position with no need to flip.
@giantisopod7 жыл бұрын
I've never seen these, but they look like a fun toy. Do you know about ZenMagnets? They are little magnetic balls that can be used to build all kinds of shapes. Similiar problems arise. Building a stable cube took me quite a few tries. Beware though, they are not for little kids, as they can be fatal if swallowed.
