@@jedimasterpickle3 Sorry, I confused the comments. In the interlude of Volume 4 of the Fate/Zero novel it is said that Kiritsugu only inherited a portion of the Emiya Crest. "Through the negotiations Natalia had made with the Association, a section of the Magic Crests gathered from Emiya Norikata’s body was allowed to be inherited by his son Emiya Kiritsugu. Although the important parts were confiscated by the Association and only a ‘fragment’ of barely half the original amount was allowed for Emiya Kiritsugu to inherit, it was enough for Kiritsugu to use his abilities as a magus. Besides, Kiritsugu didn’t have the intention of following his father’s dying wish and continuing magecraft research to begin with. "

On the other hand, in an alternate world where Muramasa was a magus, Shirou could potentially be even more OP than Rin since I think her family line started long after Muramasa was alive. Shirou's theoretical magic crest in the instance would probably have more than twice that of Rin's

I think it's not much of a difference, Kiritsugo's fathers research surround in creating Dead Apostle which is no use to Kerry and a larger Time Manipulation bounded field that need to much time and material to prepare which is also no use for Kerry

If Nasu wanted Shirou to be OP he would have made him so like he did Aoko or Shiki but instead he made him an underdog with zero talent.

if Kiritzugu got the full crest, the story would've been less dramatic imo. Time manipulation on a bigger scale would make him a lot more dangerous and would also remove a lot of suspension (or even more suspension as it might actually kill him or something). And he would disregard Saber even more, lowering her stats.

@@AscendtionArc What else was she using? She strengthened her legs so she could move faster. We see this move several times, and her arm never lights up, only her legs. This is clearly shown in her fight against Luvia in the epilogue since her exercise top doesn't cover her arms.

@@jedimasterpickle3 I mean, do you have a specific reason to assume Tsiah was wrong about her changing her mass, because that's an awfully specific detail to invent. Also, I think her physical enhancements are a combination of reinforcement and strengthening.

@@AscendtionArc My comment was mostly focused on Tsiah saying that Rin's magic in this scene came from her Magic Crest, not any specific details of what her spell actually did. I will say, though, that visually, Rin's actions appear identically to Shirou's reinforcement magic, which according to his chant, isn't targeting mass directly. "Strengthening component materials" was one line, I believe.

​@@jedimasterpickle3 In the anime, we can't really see whether or not here crest is active, as it's covered; but outside of assuming she uses it for most of her magic, I'd assuming he got the details of her crest being used for a specific function (mass shifting) from the VN, which would be have a lot more detail than the anime.

In the UBW route when Shirou got the part of the Tohsaka crest for the mana and all. But did it work as a "wi-fi" between Shirou and Tohsaka ? Or did it work as a mana warehouse in his body?

I assumed they'd either combine the crests if they had the means and thought the child could survive that, or or give the crests to different children, to widen the family total power. If the family had incompatible magecrafts, combining the lines might make it hard implant either crest?

@@AscendtionArc your statement about multiple children brings up an interesting question: which family will the children belong/go to? We know that mages will send their children to other families for the sake of those children gaining power, in exchange for a family bond. So you would think that if one family were to give it's crest to another, they would want something in exchange, like an upgraded version of the crest one or two generations later. Just a thought.
